Ready to lead at one of Southern California’s premier veterinary hospitals? **VCA West Coast Specialty and Emergency Animal Hospital** is seeking an experienced **Hospital Administrator** to join our talented, passionate team! Located just minutes from the beach in Fountain Valley, CA, we’re a 24-hour hospital offering advanced specialties including Radiation Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Cardiology, Ophthalmology, and Neurology.
As our Hospital Administrator, you’ll play a key leadership role in driving hospital operations, associate engagement, and exceptional patient care. You’ll oversee approximately 180 associates — including doctors, technicians, veterinary assistants, and support staff — and partner closely with our Medical Director and Field Leadership Team. Here, your input matters — we empower decision-making, and building a collaborative, high-performing culture.
Wh **at You’ll Do:**
+ Lead and develop hospital teams focused on quality care, client experience, and operational excellence
+ Oversee hiring, coaching, and performance management of hospital staff
+ Partner with medical leadership to drive financial performance and growth
+ Prepare and manage budgets; monitor monthly P&L to maximize success
+ Foster a strong hospital culture of ownership, teamwork, and accountability
+ Ensure compliance with medical recordkeeping standards and hospital protocols
+ Help manage and resolve client concerns with professionalism and compassion
+ Represent the hospital and VCA proudly in the local veterinary and broader community
**What We’re Looking For:**
+ 3–5+ years of leadership experience in a veterinary, specialty, or emergency hospital setting (multi-department preferred)
+ Proven ability to manage hospital operations including scheduling, payroll, inventory, and vendor relationships
+ Demonstrated success in leading and developing large, diverse teams, including performance management and conflict resolution
+ Strong understanding of hospital financials, including budgeting, forecasting, and P&L management
+ Experience supporting client service excellence and ensuring consistent, high-quality patient care delivery
+ Skilled at partnering with veterinarians and medical leadership to drive hospital performance and team engagement
VCA Animal Hospitals offers a competitive compensation and benefits package including Medical/Dental/Vision insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, pet care discounts, paid vacation, holidays and sick days, health and well-being programs that provide resources and training. Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials. The annual salary range for this position is **$115k - $130k** . This position may also be eligible for other variable pay programs.
