Hospital Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
Overview Provides Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) level emergency medical care and ambulance transport to patients who are ill or injured. Qualifications EDUCATION REQUIREMENT High school education; or general education degree (GED); and successful completion of Emergency Medical Technician program.with current license. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT None required. COMPUTER SKILLS An individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software. Basic knowledge and data entry in Electronic Health Record. Data entry into state reporting for EMS. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must possess a valid driver’s license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating. Must possess and maintain an EMT License issued by the Oklahoma State Department of Health. Must possess Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. Must possess National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC) certifications maintain throughout employment. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Must keep all knowledge and skills current through specific continued education as required by the Oklahoma State Department of Health/EMS Division for renewing licensure. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE). Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk. The employee frequently is required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions and is frequently exposed to vibration. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
