Hospital Patient Services Clerk 1
Job Summary: Duties include but are not limited to: Conducting a courteous, professional interview with patient. Gather and enter all demographic and insurance data into CAIS. Obtain required signatures, distribute forms and patient cards appropriately. Correctly identify and attach patient bracelets. Maintain patient confidentiality. Provide information and directions to patients. Maintain knowledge of department policy and procedures and maintain an accuracy rate within established guidelines. Provide flexibility in schedule to accommodate staffing needs of the department. Will participate in cross-training in other admitting areas. Will need to be able to prioritize work and handle stressful situations. Will perform support functions as necessary such as filing, assist supervisor in new employee training, etc. Strong customer service, communication and organizational skills are necessary. Minimum Qualifications: For consideration for this title, you must meet the following minimum qualifications: One year full-time clerical, secretarial or patient care experience in a healthcare setting. Work Days: Schedule is based on 40 hours a week. Evening Weekend 1:30 PM - 10:00 PM Message to Applicants: **The NYS Department of Civil Service has expanded the NY HELPS Program.
