ResponsibilitiesThe Hospital Services Representative / Driver position is responsible for receiving, selecting, packaging and arranging delivery for blood components. This position reports to the Logistics Supervisor or designee.
Inventory Management:
• Responsible for proper inventory control methods by following current Standard Operating Procedures
• Responsible for properly updating each component into computer during delivery returns
• Store blood and components in appropriate refrigerator, freezer, or incubator
• Arrange blood products according to expiration dates, and remove all expired products according to Standard Operating Procedures
• Check and respond to storage devices alarms
• Use first in first out method of inventory control
• Responsible for properly recording questionable blood products and reporting to a laboratory supervisor
• Make outgoing telephone calls to hospitals and other centers to maximize utilization of available inventory
Hospital Orders:
• Receive, record, and verify customer orders accurately; when feasible, ask customers to substitute short-dated components
• Fill and pack orders accurately
• Follow established procedures to properly process component returns
Hospital Deliveries:
• Responsible for making timely deliveries to hospital blood banks as assigned, giving prompt attention to orders marked as "ASAP" or "STAT". Assist hospital blood bank technicians in verifying shipments and returns
• Return signed copies of forms and other hospital correspondence to Center
• Perform delivery/pick up errands for RIBC as requested
Customer Service:
• Display professionalism to both internal and external customers
• Present a clean, neat appearance and abide by HS dress code
• Request support from RIBC on-call supervisors as appropriate
• Document and report any unusual incidents to supervisory staff
Paperwork/Reporting:
• Responsible for accurate completion of department forms
• May be required to complete or asked to provide support to responsible individual in the completion of specific documentation, reports, and/or procedures as assigned
Educational Requirement:
High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
Experience/Qualifications:
Communicate clearly using a telephone
Valid drivers license with no moving traffic violations within the last 3 years
The proposed hourly wage for this position is $17.82/hour.
