Provides hospital-based clinical and administrative services involving primary medical care to patients in an internal medicine practice setting.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions:Provides internal medicine services at designated hospital.Provides in-hospital patient care and consultations as required.Participates in non-traditional inpatient services such as admitting/managing patients at Select Specialty Hospital and in the pre-surgical assessment program and others as the need arises.Assists with the operation of the resident and medical student teaching program for the Department of Medicine.May assist with resident recruitment and evaluation as required.Common Expectations:Participates in Medical Staff activities as required and/or as requested.Observes the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of the Hospital and the Medical Staff.Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required.Participates in performance improvement programs and Clinical Effectiveness Teams (CETs) and other WellSpan initiatives as requested.Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.Required for All Jobs:Performs other related duties as identified.WellSpan Health has adopted and implemented a compliance program to support WellSpan's values and standards for professionalism, integrity, and ethics.
