Job Description:

Responsible for direct patient care by reviewing patient's medical history while collecting, prioritizing, and synthesizing comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or situation. Provides general pediatric care to hospitalized patients and performs procedures in the inpatient setting. Provides pediatric consultation to the ED and for surgical patients.

Principle Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care for newborn patients in a hospital setting.Reviews patient's medical history while collecting, prioritizing, and synthesizing comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or situation.Evaluates, interprets, and coordinates information to make decisions and recommendations regarding patient care.Provides education, consultation or intervention to patients (treatment plan) and their families.Works collaboratively with patients to improve their health and well-being.Practices in a thoughtful manner including consideration for cultural diversity, individual autonomy and legal responsibilities.Provides occasional pediatric consultation for ED and surgical patients.Charts in electronic format in accordance with licensure and scope.Actively participates in multidisciplinary approach to case management.Required participation in on-call rotation.May perform procedures such as circumcisions in the newborn nursery and the NICU.Provides direct patient care for pediatric patients in a hospital setting.Utilizes quality improvement tools to develop processes that promote continuous improvement in delivery of patient care, patient outcomes, or workflowsMay participate in peer review and quality assurance.Supervise Nurse Practitioner Hospitalists Newborn service.Other duties as assigned.


Licenses/Certifications

MD, DO, or foreign equivalency training required. Accredited Residency training program in Pediatrics required.Active, non-restricted medical license in MN (or ability to obtain) NRP and PALS certification requiredACLS/BLS Tier 3 - Multisource requiredAbility to obtain and/or maintain MN DEA certification and National Provider Identifier (NPI) Prescription Monitoring Program upon hire requiredAbility to meet criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and hospital privilegePediatrics or in Pediatrics by the American Osteopathic Board of Pediatrics within 1 Year required

Pay Range

Pay Range: $215,000 to $240,000 per year

The pay described reflects the starting base pay range, assuming a full-time FTE. Your starting rate will depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable).
