CBC Kids Studios is seeking a hilarious, energetic, fun-loving, musical individual to host the morning preschool block, online content and live events. Not only will you be the face of the CBC Kids, you will also be an integral part of the production team. You will perform a variety of tasks associated with the preparation and on-air presentation of program material. You will also be involved in the development and execution of program material, influencing the direction of program material based on your specialized knowledge of children’s programming and your performance capabilities. 

You must have an understanding of how to engage learning through play. You must have a passion for kids content, sing & play an instrument, bring the comedy and present authentically on camera. In this full time CMG position, you will actively contribute to creative, develop & pitch concepts, write scripts & songs, create digital content and more!

Key Tasks:

Perform a leading role in broadcast and online Preschool Segments, as needed. 

Propose program ideas and contribute to show planning and creative development by proposing content, booking guests, writing scripts, and composing songs. 

Conduct research using a variety of sources. 

Act as a subject-matter expert in the area of children’s programming, as well as in the fields relevant to the focus of the program(s). 

Contribute to script writing and song writing/composition. 

Prepare for shoots by reviewing and rehearsing scripts and songs

Voice a variety of promos, segments, and songs

Plan, shoot and/or post segments for digital platforms

Record & edit audio content for digital platforms

Run live/virtual programs 

Participate in public and/or community relations activities as appropriate, to promote the program(s) and/or the Corporation.

Maintain his/her subject matter expertise in fields relevant to the focus of the program(s)

Attend Departmental and Team Meetings & Brainstorms

Your profile: 

You have a strong on-camera performance, including clear diction, engaging eye contact, and comfortable on-air presence.

You have a basic understanding of broadcast technology and production processes.

You possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, as the role involves collaboration with a team and interaction with children.

You understand the importance of teamwork, as the role requires collaboration with producers, directors, and other members of the creative team.

You value the importance of professionalism, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.

You have a deep interest in and knowledge of children’s programming. 


 

Education Required: 

Improvisation and writing skills, with a background in performance, children’s entertainment or comedy. Post-secondary education in a relevant field (e.g., performing arts, children's media, education) is an asset.

Experience Required: 

This job requires 5 years proven ability as a performer and a demonstrated understanding of children’s broadcasting.

Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.
