We are looking for a Senior Leader to join and lead Arup’s Host Cities offering. The role will be focused on developing the host cities and major events offering at Arup, with the goal to deliver an increasingly broad range of services to cities and organizing committees, from integrated mobility to operational delivery with a strong focus on legacy development and subsequent opportunities. This role would also help develop our relationships with sports stadiums and sports owners to grow our service offering.
This role can be based out of any of our United States office locations including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Oakland, Seattle, Chicago, Boston, New York City, Newark, Washington D.C., Houston, Austin, or Dallas.
**The Opportunity**
+ Cultivate new work with current and new clients, developing client relationships, and being at the forefront on a wide variety of complex and challenging host cities bids.
+ Being the project director for a range of high value-adding host cities advisory type services projects, design and delivery work.
+ Delegating project director responsibility to other team members as appropriate, while retaining accountability for overall commercial performance and client satisfaction.
+ Provide support for the current leadership of the Host Cities team, sharing responsibility for and grow a network of teams, supporting their personal development, providing coaching, addressing performance issues and undertaking / supervising annual appraisals as well as recruitment to grow the team.
+ Be involved in project evaluations of current complex advisory projects.
+ Support in making compelling case for investment that further our skills, service lines and value propositions. Work with others internationally to make investment case(s).
+ Raising Arup’s profile through development and communication of innovation and thought leadership via industry events and conferences.

**Is this role right for you?**
+ A bachelor’s degree in a related field – to include planning, architecture, engineering, environmental management, finance, economics planning.
+ 15 or more years of experience with strong validated capability in the successful delivery of host cities type advisory consultancy services for Major Events around the world and in the North or South American market with an emphasis on generating lasting and meaningful legacies, especially across the U.S.
+ Demonstrable involvement during a recent major event associated with transport or mobility planning and operations.
+ Knowledge of the technical, commercial and delivery challenges of hosting major events including mobility, infrastructure readiness and governance.
+ Proven track record in winning work for themselves and their team and delivering high-value consultancy services (or demonstrable transferrable skills and experience).
+ Experience in the new and developing areas of mobility and other transport innovations that could influence major events in the future.
+ Proven capability in creating business proposals to pitch to clients, by drawing together the relevant technical expertise from across a multi-disciplinary firm.
+ Proven ability to effectively lead and strengthen a team or practice
+ Strong commercial awareness of a client’s business drivers and public sector commitments to carbon and sustainability within the mobility sector.
+ This role would be required to travel above 50% of their time.

Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in Los Angeles is $185,000 to $245,000 per year. **This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level.** Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of Los Angeles will differ.
