About the team
Worldpay powers 2.2 trillion payments annually across 146 countries in over 135 separate currencies with over a million-merchants supported globally. Worldpay is the largest acquirer by volume globally, we provide a reliable, secure, and scalable payments platform 24x7 365 day a year.
Being part of the 200 strong Infrastructure Services organization, you’ll help to engineer and deliver the core infrastructure services that power our payments platform. We’re responsible for running some very critical systems, maintaining 20,000 servers via an automation platform, thousands of databases and petabytes of storage hosted from our data centres and public cloud.
What you'll own
At WorldPay a Hosting Windows Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining Windows-based systems and infrastructure within an organization. This includes installing and configuring Windows servers, managing Active Directory, monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring system security. Here is a list of some of the responsibilities with this role.
Installing, configuring, and maintaining Windows operating systems and software applications
Managing and maintaining Active Directory services, including user accounts, groups, and policies
Monitoring system performance and troubleshooting issues.
Implementing and maintaining system security measures, such as firewalls, antivirus software, and encryption
Performing system upgrades and patches
Automating tasks using scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python.
Collaborating with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration of Windows systems with other technologies.
Providing technical support and training as needed.
Documenting system configurations and procedures
Participating in on-call rotations for after-hours support.
In addition to these core responsibilities, Hosting Windows Engineers will also be involved in the following:
Designing and implementing system architecture: Windows systems engineers may be responsible for designing the overall architecture of Windows-based systems, including server configurations, network infrastructure, and storage solutions. They need to ensure that the systems are scalable, reliable, and meet the organization's requirements.
Virtualization and cloud computing: Windows systems engineers may work with virtualization technologies such as Hyper-V or VMware to create and manage virtual machines. They may also be involved in deploying and managing Windows-based systems in cloud environments such as Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services.
Disaster recovery and backup solutions: Windows systems engineers are responsible for implementing and maintaining backup and disaster recovery solutions to ensure the continuity of operations in case of system failures or data loss.
Compliance and regulatory requirements: Windows systems engineers need to ensure that Windows-based systems adhere to industry regulations and compliance standards, such as HIPAA, PCI DSS, or GDPR. They may be involved in implementing security measures and auditing systems to meet these requirements.
Performance tuning and optimization: Windows systems engineers are responsible for optimizing system performance by monitoring resource usage, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing solutions to improve system efficiency.
Project management: Windows systems engineers may lead or participate in IT projects related to system upgrades, migrations, or deployments. They need to coordinate with other team members, stakeholders, and vendors to ensure successful project delivery.

What you bring
Experience with Microsoft technologies: Proficiency in Microsoft server technologies such as Windows Server, Active Directory, IIS, and SharePoint is essential for Windows systems engineers. Knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud services in Conjunction with AWS Cloud Service is also valuable.
Troubleshooting skills: Strong problem-solving abilities are crucial for Windows systems engineers to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently. You should be able to troubleshoot system failures, performance problems, and network connectivity issues effectively.
Security awareness: Understanding of cybersecurity best practices, such as access controls, encryption, patch management, and intrusion detection, and the importance for securing Windows-based systems and protecting against cyber threats.
Communication skills: Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential to collaborate with team members, communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders, and provide support to end users.
Added bonus if you have
Education: A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Practical experience in the role can be used in place of formal education.
Certification: Possessing relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, or CompTIA Server+ can demonstrate expertise in Windows-based systems and technologies.
