Normal hours of work are Monday to Friday, in accordance with the required shift pattern. The postholder is required to work such hours as are necessary in order to satisfactorily perform the role.
Main Purpose of Job
To fully support the Hot Works Manager in the development and delivery of operational strategy, capital investment and improvement work for the department and to support and develop Company policy with regard to Health and Safety and the Environment within the Department. Responsible for the Operatives on shift and achievement of department production targets, whilst maintain a safe and clean working environment and full quality, technical and environmental compliance.
Key Tasks and Accountabilities
To fully support the Hot Works Manager and step up in their absence. Responsibility for the management of the Hot Works department and consumables and ensure the equipment is ready and available to deliver the plan. Responsible for the delivery of Hot Works operational plan and highlight improvements. To uphold the Company Policy with regards to Health, Safety, and the Environment within the facility. To fully support the company Hoshin business objectives To support and develop personnel within the department. Fully support audits, track the teams and processes to ensure continuous compliance and drive leading indicators to improve EHS and Quality. Hold pre shift daily brief at the start of shift to update team in line with operating rules and Human Performance expectations. Complete a local Walk the Floor routine to contribute to the Daily Operations Meeting to report on performance against the agreed metrics under EHS, Quality, Cost, Delivery and People, and to identify problems for resolution by the manufacturing and / or functional teams. Be responsible for H&S and Quality within the department, e.g., auditing of equipment, calibration, generation/amendment of risk assessments, wearing of PPE – carrying out actions accordingly. Assist Supervisor in the following: Ensuring shift patterns in place and skill sets are covered. Support with planning and coordinating of work, deliver the plan. Ensure team members are aware and understand what is required of them. Checking start & finish times, breaks and reporting to Line Manager of any issues. Assisting with holiday bookings in line with Holiday Policy/departmental requirements to ensure cover always in place. Manage the misuse of time (mobile phones, leaving workstation without good reason) Ensure training/coaching is delivered to all production operatives where necessary and TCF records are always live and updated. Input/update Tropos bookings Be able to identify bottlenecks in production and work in conjunction with the supervisor to develop a plan for the for the resolution. Raise concerns/issues to relevant Supervisor. Ensure processes are running in line with expectations. Ensure quality and output standards are met. Recommend and drive departmental improvements. Maintain a clean working environment. Promote and drive a 5S lean culture. Maintain good timekeeping and attendance. Ensure all departmental TPMs are completed on time, FRM-505 forms raised for non-completion. In the event of an incident/accident ensure the correct reporting procedures and collection of evidence and statements to the required company standard. Ensure all paperwork/route cards in relation to the department are correctly completed. Raise maintenance requests in accordance with required system and ensure flash alerts are communicated promptly to the relevant individuals in accordance with the relevant procedure. In periods of reduced Team Leader cover in areas outside your normal remit, ensure company standards are maintained, including Human Performance and Walk the Floor. In the event of an incident/accident ensure the correct reporting procedures and collection of evidence and statements to the required company standard.Environmental Health and Safety
Fully engage in the ongoing management of the company Health and Safety policy standards within the department, through the development of a zero accidents culture. Fully support and champion Human Performance and the safety plan. Identify daily safety hazards, undertake departmental audits and co-ordinate the completion of Pre-Task Briefs, Job Instructions, and safety observations. Challenge unsafe practices and enforce Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) compliance at all levels. Ensuring that all equipment in the department is appropriately maintained. Undertake periodic risk assessment reviews of processes to drive risk reduction.Quality
Help maintain the Quality Management System and seek to improve quality levels through a right first-time culture. Ensure all calibrated equipment is maintained and compliant when in operational use. Raise and review non- conformance and scrap issues highlighted and support shift operations by developing corrective actions and building these into job instructions using standard company tools and templates as part of the problem resolution process. Be part of the team to ensure retention of Quality standards AS9100.Knowledge
Awareness of manufacturing processes, Hot Works Department and Finishing. Tropos – Works order maintenance, route cards. QMS – NCRs, Document review, update, JI procedure input, HSE Audits and SSoW. Shift Manning- daily maintenance issues, general information updates, Daily DMM reports, TOC, Site visits and internal/external audits. DMM – Inventory stock reporting, Throughput, effective communication at DMM, Internal NP reporting and management. Weekly Hours – Weekly planning meetings, monitor daily hours, weekly projections, weekly reports. Consignment – manage inventories of consumables and reorder process, ensure we have everything to deliver the plan. Daily reporting – email updates, maintenance issues, general information, trackers and highlights. OT and IOIs. TMs, JI, RAs – Job specific instructions, department specific instructions, Site specific, Continuous improvements, environmental compliance. WTF checks – OHC, Manipulator, FLT, ladder, E-stop, accidents/incidents, fire warden, HAVs trackers, scales calibrations, tool calibrations. Shires – Raise requests against the asset, including relevant detail to assist maintenance. Waste management – Lean events, 5S, internal waste segregation and disposal, environmental compliance. Emergency protocol – Emergency evac, fire alarms systems, environmental spills and containment, reporting, emergency contact information, COSHH data, fire assembly and rollcall, incident management and reporting.Aptitudes Required
