Hourly Research Analyst
Title: Hourly Research Analyst Department: Physics Reports To: Distinguished Professor, Physics Position Type: Staff Position Summary: The Dias Lab is hiring a data analyst to design short peptides that can target cancer cells. The candidate is expected to use computational tools to design different peptides and test predictions in a wet lab. Essential Functions: -The data analyst will simulate the interaction of peptides with cancer cells in silico. The database created from simulations will be used to train machine learning algorithms to make predictions of new peptides that can target cancer cells. Additional Functions: -Perform experiments jointly with our collaborators (Yuanwei Zhang and Xuan Liu) at NJIT to test predictions from computer simulation in a wet lab using a variety of bioassays. Prerequisite Qualifications: -Proficient in Python, CHARMM, R, dye-leak experiments, and bioassays. -At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position. Preferred Qualifications: -Bachelor degree in Biology. -Knowledge of Python and CHARMM. -Wet lab experience. Salary Information: In compliance with the NJ Pay Transparency Law, the hourly rate/range for this position is $25.00 (USD). NJIT considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses or other items. FLSA: Non-Exempt Part-Time
