Job Description

House Engineer/General Maintenance Person 

The house engineer is responsible for the repair, maintenance, and upkeep of the installations at the hotel, including immediate guest room deficiencies, as well as participating in a preventive maintenance program of all-building equipment, guestrooms, meeting rooms, ballrooms in all areas of the hotel.

What you will be doing:

Flexibility in work shifts may include mornings, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Cover shifts in the engineering department as needed.Become familiar with and understand all the systems (i.e. electrical distribution and lighting, swimming pool, TV antenna, fire/life safety and emergency generator, central plant, kitchen, HVAC and refrigeration, etc.) associated with the hotel operationsResolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfactionOrganize materials, tools and equipment to perform daily assignmentsParticipate in the preventive maintenance program while maintaining time lines and work scheduleCheck work orders and Engineering department service request log for maintenance deficiency calls or for any problems. Make rounds checking these problem areas; note any touch-up needs or/and safety concerns in the hotelMaintain par stock levels of supplies and communicate requisition needsStrip and refinish guestroom furnitureComplete and of shift paperwork with any follow-up actionsCarry out any other tasks assigned
Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

Previous experience in general maintenanceAbility to communicate in English, both verbal and non-verbalKnowledge of tools and equipment respective to job functionsAbility to interpret manufacturer's literature for installation, preparation, use and upkeep of various materials and products used throughout the propertyHigh School diploma or equivalent vocational training certificateKnowledge of proper cleaning techniques, requirements and use of equipment/machineryComplete basic arithmetic

Physical Abilities:

Exert physical effort in transporting miscellaneous items (50-150 pounds) throughout all areas of the hotel.Endure various physical movements throughout the work areas.Constant walking, standing, kneeling, bending, pushing, and pulling

Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in the United States. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining work authorization documents.
