Job Summary
PURPOSE OF YOUR JOB DESCRIPTION:The purpose of a Housekeeping Aide is to perform daily laundry and linen cleaning to maintain a hygienic, safe, and well-kept facility for the residents and co-workers.
DELEGATION OF AUTHORITY: You have the authority to perform any assigned task and report all unsafe conditions to the Director of Environmental Services.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Each room is treated as 2 separate rooms. Initial inspection and notation of maintenance issues. Collect trash, disinfect can in and out, reline can. Dust high areas, walls, and lampshades. Refill paper towel and soap dispensers in sink area and refill hand sanitizer in every room. Dust/wipe down all horizontal surfaces, this should include window sills and radiators. Disinfect “high contact items” (this includes remote controls, light switches, lamps, and call bells. Efficiently clean bathroom using the “7 Step Process”: Collect trash, refill dispensers, sweep/dry mop floor, clean walls, disinfect toilet exterior, scrub bowl, damp mop floor. Sweep/dry-mop floor, being sure to get under radiators, furniture and bed. Wet-mop floors, place wet floor sign at entrance. Inspect room for quality control. Refill paper towel and soap dispensers in Nursing sink area for your “base” unit. Restock housekeeping closet at the end of the day.
WORKING CONDITIONS: • Sits, stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during working hours • Is subject to frequent interruptions • Is involved with patients, residents, staff, government agencies/personnel, etc. under all conditions and circumstances • Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset patients, family members, etc. • Communicates with the medical staff and other hospital departments’ staff • Attends and participates in continuing training programs as they relate to the position • May be exposed to infectious waste and diseases • Is subject to lifting, carrying and supporting patients • Must be constantly alert for patient safety
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS: • Must be able to read, write legibly, speak clearly and understand the English language • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action in a timely fashion • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with staff, patients, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public • Must possess the willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel and the general public • Dress code is a clean and tidy appearance wearing white shirt, tan pants, sturdy shoes, and name tags Must meet attendance and punctuality standards – Demonstrates reliability and accountability • Radio procedures: Open communication with all nursing stations, as well as the MV Hospital staff, assists in the efficient working of the facility • Must honor the residents’ personal and property rights and confidentiality of the residents’ information
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the work day • Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner • Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of positions • Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met • Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity and the ability to work effectively with the CEO, physicians, department managers and the general public • Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability • Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset and, at times, hostile people within the facility • Must be able to assist in the evacuation of patients.
This postion will cover 5 shifts per week 7:30am to 3:30pm with some weekend shifts required.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
• High School diploma or GED preferred
EXPERIENCE:
• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
• Excellent customer service and staff coordination skills
• Experience in Medical or Hospitality preferred
• Willing to train
