Summary The Housekeeping Aid Training Leader position is located at Tomah, WI VA Medical Center in the Environmental Management service. In addition to the performance of Journeyman level work, the position instructs, distributes, balances and coordinates the housekeeping workload to the employees on a daily basis. Responsibilities Major duties: Resolve simple informal complaints of employees and refer others to supervisor. Amend or reject work not meeting established standards, refer to supervisor questions or matters not covered by standards and problems in meeting Performance Standards. Coordinates projects and other work activities based on the instructions received from the supervisor. Instructs employees in specific jobs/projects and makes available written instruction or other reference materials. Incorporates the syllabus requirements through a basic orientation to housekeeping procedures and techniques, infection control, safety, chemical use, storage, and the use of appropriate cleaning equipment. Assists the supervisor in establishing priorities and deadliness based on general work schedules, methods and policies, and requirements. Assists the supervisor in the effective and economical use of allocated resources, both human and material for the housekeeping employees. Assist the supervisor in preparation of labor and ordering of materials throughout the Medical Center. Participates with supervisor in designated planning and review sessions which address organizational priorities, staffing, budgets and operational programs. Work Schedule: Full time, Monday - Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm. EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Occasionally lifts heavy loads, be able to climb/descent ladders and scaffolds. Incumbent is subject to all hazards inherent in the physical plant and grounds environments, for example: burns, cuts, bruises, sprains, falls, high heat, high humidity, etc.The employee's work area is primarily indoors, in areas which normally have adequate heat, light, and ventilation. Exposure to vibration from equipment and to skin irritations from strong cleaning solutions used in the performance of duties. Care is required to avoid serious injuries when working with chemicals and powered equipment.
