Posting Details Working Title Housekeeping B Supervisor Position Number 00488A Department CUSTODIAL SERV Location Norfolk, VA Type of Position Classified Type of Job Full Time EEO Category H Service/Maintenance Job Description MULTIPLE POSITIONS WILL BE FILLED FROM THIS RECRUITMENT To perform duties of Housekeeping Building (B) Supervisor. Supervise housekeeping staff within the building (or buildings) assigned, normally 1 to 8 housekeepers. Coordinate daily activities of assigned housekeeping staff. Conduct building inspections to ensure that housekeeping tasks are being completed per department policy. Additionally this position is responsible for ordering, inventory management and issuing supplies for the assigned building to ensure the building (s) are stocked with cleaning supplies and consumable supplies to maintain restrooms and other areas as necessary. This position is the primary Special Project Team Leader for specialized cleaning requirements. Reports to work as directed during emergency closings. Type of Recruitment Knowledge, skills and abilities Working knowledge of cleaning methods, chemicals, equipment and safety practice. Demonstrated ability to lead the work of others. Demonstrated ability to read and explain cleaning directions and standards to others. Demonstrated ability to write and record inspection results on standard inspection form. Knowledge of effective customer service and communication techniques. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. many times per day. Special licenses, registration or certification Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record. Education or training None Level and type of experience Experience in housekeeping/cleaning large buildings. Some institutional supervisory experience. Experience operating standard housekeeping equipment; experience in the use and application of chemicals such as germicides, disinfectants and caustic solutions. Additional Considerations (supplemental knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, licensure, certification) Previous housekeeping experience in institutional setting, ideally higher education. Experience with supply ordering and inventory. Experience preparing weekly supply usage reports. Conditions of Employment Day Shift Monday – Friday 5:00am to 1:30pm Night Shift Sunday – Thursday 10:00am to 6:30am Evening Shift Tuesday – Saturday 1:30 pm to 10:00 pm Facilities Management employees are considered essential personnel and subject to working during university closings.
