Job Summary
Accountable for the supervision of work activities of housekeeping personnel to ensure sanitary, orderly and attractive conditions in the hospital. Employee may access secure medication supply areas to complete assigned job duties.
Responsibilities
• Supervise work activities of housekeeping personnel to ensure sanitary, orderly, and attractive hospital conditions. • Prepare reports reflecting activities within the area of responsibility, to include inspections of employees performance in their work area. • Report building maintenance requirements and safety hazards to appropriate personnel. • Direct personnel in the safe and effective utilization of supplies and equipment. • Coordinate service requests. • Orient and train employees in departmental policies and procedures. • Make recommendations to management regarding personnel actions such as employment, transfer, evaluation, and termination. • Complete annual performance appraisals on all department employees and submit appraisals to management for review. • Reinforce employee understanding of work integration with other departments throughout the institution. • Responsible for cleaning secured medical supply rooms and secured medication rooms throughout the hospitals. Maintain status as authorized personnel to access these areas.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Patient Group Knowledge (Only applies to positions with direct patient contact) The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department’s identified patient ages. Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients. Competency Statement Must demonstrate competency through an initial orientation and ongoing competency validation to independently perform tasks and additional duties as specified in the job description and the unit/department specific competency checklist. Perform related duties as assigned.
Education
• High School Diploma or GED (Required) Experience: Must have at least 2 years' experience in a supervisory role. Institutional Housekeeping experience is preferred. Substitution: 3 years of Institutional Housekeeping experience may substitute for 2 years' supervisory experience.
