Hiring Dates and Duration of Position:
Hiring for November, December and January : duration will depend on demand for this role. Note that this is an ‘on call’ position without a regularly-set schedule or office location. There may be times when there are no hours available for this role and other times where a few hours/week are to be expected. This is a supplemental position that is great for someone who is not relying on it for regular income.
Note: these positions will be available as long as funding remains. When funding runs out, the positions will be put on hold.
Overview:
The Office of Student Services is looking for on-call graduate assistants who are based in the Monterey area, have their own transportation and can make housing visits on the behalf of incoming Spring 2025 students as well as continuing students who are in need of housing support. Before the housing visit, GAs will be required to have a phone/zoom call with the requesting student and will be provided with a checklist that they will use to gather information about the listing to be forwarded to the requesting student.
Essential Functions:
Based in Monterey or immediate surrounding area Willing to visit apartments/houses around Monterey, Pacific Grove, Seaside, Carmel, Marina (possibly); Salinas if nearby to you Capable of providing a very basic and factual description of the listing without giving personal opinion or subjective / qualitative thoughts Available to meet with students over Zoom or in-person to provide housing search support and guidance
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
Welcoming, encouraging and supportive of the new student experience Highly self-directed High attention to detail and organized Comfortable using multiple communication tools - text, phone, zoom, whatsapp, etc. Strong familiarity with the Monterey area Personal transportation - bike, car, etc. - available to use
Pay Rate: $16/hour + mileage reimbursement for travel paid at .62.5 cents per mile (Google map mileage documentation required for reimbursement)
