Housing Specialist
Details:

.The Housing Specialist is responsible for permanent housing placement for all housing ready individuals at Ruth Fernandez Family Residence.  The Housing Specialist will be responsible for the successful placement of these Families in accordance with HPD' contractual requirements. The Housing Specialist works with community organizations, government agencies and property owners to secure living arrangements, negotiate rents, deposits and move-in terms on behalf of  clients. The position involves various tasks that increase housing options for clients who are trying to transition to permanent housing.                                 


The salary for the Housing Specialist is $45,000/annually based on relevant experience.


Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday (9am - 5pm)  Late day: Thursday (11am - 7pm)

 

KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Assist clients in finding suitable housingDevelop and maintain liaison with landlords and the communityHelp clients with all housing applications Assist clients through entire housing process from application, meeting prospective landlords, lease signing and move outWork directly with realtors, landlords and Social Services Department to expedite lease signing processInspect apartments, check status of Public Assistance CasePrepare weekly housing status reports; update housing notes on a weekly basisComplete and file all required HPD paperwork as it relates to permanent housingAccompany clients to apartment viewings and appointments; complete move outs by driving clients to identified permanent residence.Achieve monthly housing placement target Other duties in keeping with the scope and nature of the position  REQUIREMENTS:                                                                                                                                  Two (2) years of relevant experienceHigh school Diploma/GED required. Associates/BA Degree in related field preferredAbility to network with landlords, real estate management companies, community-based and city agencies to identifying permanent housing opportunities for shelter clients.Ability to use business acumen to exercise good judgment and decision-makingAbility to deal with sensitive issues with diplomacy and discretionMust be able to multi-task with strong organizational skills; must be a resourceful self-starterExcellent interpersonal skills and able to communicate both verbally and in written formCommitment to culture diversity and sensitivity
