This position is a part of a donor-funded program, ASPIRE, supported by the Howley Foundation. This enrichment initiative is designed for high school juniors interested in pursuing careers in Respiratory Therapy, Surgical Technology or Sterile Processing. The Howley ASPIRE Pathways focuses on providing participants with career options and critical skill sets to support their transition through higher education, entry into the workforce, and beyond. This 12-week hands-on enrichment program will offer instruction to high school juniors to develop their understanding of careers in Respiratory Therapy, Surgical Technology and Sterile Processing. Students can expect to gain experience in CPR certification/Heart Saver and mock code, shadow and hands-on experience, college and on-the-job training and collaboration with experts in healthcare and advanced medical training equipment. Upon high school graduation, participants begin part-time/PRN employment at Cleveland Clinic and start an appropriate degree or certification program. All successful participants are invited to return to the Cleveland Clinic upon successful completion of the program.
**A caregiver in this position works variable schedule to accommodate the high school's schedules, including but not limited to the following shifts:**
+ **A minimum of twelve Saturdays, 8am-4:30pm, to facilitate student classes (juniors).**
+ **Twice monthly evening classes on Tuesdays, 4pm-7pm, to facilitate student development sessions (seniors).**
+ **Day shift(s) as needed on-site at Main Campus.**
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
+ Design, revise, and facilitate core curriculum and professional development workshops to support workforce readiness.
+ Educate caregivers on career pathway options in support of career progression and support academic transition.
+ Track current and emerging entry-level workforce trends and make data driven decisions to influence business outcomes.
+ Act as a liaison between caregivers, unit leadership and Human Resources to support caregiver success and address urgent or emerging concerns.
+ Have recent and/or prior experience working with high school students.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy.
+ Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
+ Ohio Respiratory Care Professional (RCP) board licensure.
+ 3-5 years critical care experience.
+ Can facilitate large group training sessions and provide one-on-one coaching to individuals.
+ Can build relationships at all levels of the organization by participating on committees, supporting management, and advocating for caregivers.
+ Set the tone for caring and compassion through communication and facilitation.
+ Excellent interpersonal skills, as evidenced by supportive and constructive communication.
+ Demonstrated cultural competency across diverse cultures and socioeconomic statuses.
+ Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ Master's degree in Public Health, Education, or Business.
+ Recent and/or previous experience working with and/or recruiting high school students.
