HPLC In-House Service Engineer

The LCMS group within the R&D Discovery and Technology Futures group is looking for a dedicated and energetic HPLC In-House Service Engineer to join our in-house team and provide critical support for LC instrumentation at our IDEXX world headquarters in Westbrook, Maine.

The successful candidate will join a team of experienced scientists at the BS, MS, and PhD levels. We are looking for a detail-oriented, motivated individual with a strong instrument service background and familiarity with varied LC (Liquid Chromatography) instrumentation.

What you will do

Troubleshoot, provide repairs, and maintenance for multiple manufactures of HPLC and Nano HPLC systems.

Work with others to repair instruments within the lab and learn new skills as needed.

Collaborate with team members in applications and analysis of novel biological markers.

Learn how to operate and maintain various types of instrumentation in the LCMS laboratory.

Order and maintain inventory of spare parts: ordering, usage, returns, physical count, etc.

Collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve issues and improve processes.

Remain up to date on technical bulletins from vendors.

What you need to succeed

AA or BS with 2-5 years of hands-on experience working for vendor or service organization.

Experience operating, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating complex systems preferred.

Familiarity with EvoSep, nanoElute, and AKTA systems preferred.

Knowledge of and willingness to learn mass spectrometry a plus.

Computer competency, electrical/electronic systems background, mechanical knowledge, and chemistry education are skills that will help the applicant succeed.

Exercise judgment in setting work priorities and identifying needs as they arise.

Able to quickly adapt to change with positive and constructive feedback.

Ability to listen, observe, and communicate effectively.

Must be able to work independently, or collaboratively, in a team environment.

Demonstrated ability to critically evaluate techniques and recommend improved practices.

Must be able to stand, bend, and/or kneel for up to two hours at a time.

Ability to move around equipment, lift, push, crawl, and help maintain a safe working lab environment that changes as needs evolve.

Exposure to biohazards is possible as instruments are used in analyzing biological fluids.

Salary range starting at $72,000 based on experience
