Responsibilities
Manages student, temp, and seasonal hiring processes, including oversight of division hire request form and tracking spreadsheet, job descriptions, employment offers, and onboarding. Drafts templates and routine hiring documents as needed. Maintains appropriate HR data and records.Conducts regular student, temp, and seasonal hiring audits.Gains a deep understanding of student employee/labor relations efforts.Provides professional support to the division’s student labor relations efforts. Partners with Dean of Students and UGrad on student hire union activities and ensures compliance.Serves as student, temp, and seasonal payroll specialist, handling all compensation changes, costing allocation updates, one time payments, period activity pays, etc.Collaborates with Finance and Grant Services team and Budget/Data Analyst regarding student, temp, and seasonal funding and accounts.Serves as student, temp, and seasonal Workday timekeeping specialist, assisting with coding hours, troubleshooting issues, processing backpay requests, and auditing student submissions and supervisor approvals as requested.Develops tutorials and provides training to division community on payroll and timekeeping processes and best practices.Develops relationships with colleagues, attends trainings, participates in central initiatives, etc., to stay informed of division, University, state, and federal payroll and timekeeping laws, policies, and procedures.Prepares payroll and timekeeping related reports and summaries; assists in developing division-wide payroll and timekeeping policies and procedures.Co-manages Humanities-Payroll email inbox with Assistant Director and handles all payroll and timekeeping requests. Resolves routine and complex inquiries. Uses strong judgement to elevate issues as needed.Pursues professional development opportunities. Implements what is learned to enhance role.Solves a range of straightforward problems using standard procedures.Counsels employees on benefits and compensation. Coordinates with managers and senior colleagues to determine employee compensation. Analyzes data and prepares charts, graphs, and trend lines for management review with a moderate level of guidance.Assists in the development and administration of the HR budget for the department, monitors for variances, and manages employment expenses within established guidelines.Performs other related work as needed.
