**PURPOSE OF THE JOB:**
Contributes to the design, development and implementation of employment and employee relations programmes related to human resources functional areas. Provides advice in relation to human resources policy and programme matters. Serves as employee and management liaison as needed. Acts as an informed source of company policies and procedures by answering questions or routing to appropriate employees for answers.
Participates in special projects, coordination of department activities, may be the lead on a project. May coordinate recruitment strategy for open positions; maintain internal human resources (HR) systems; conduct training. Performs variety of administrative tasks, including preparing reports, graphs and presentations and report analysis.
**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Assists managers with staffing decisions by assessing needs and objectives, helping managers identify appropriate knowledge/skills/abilities, reviewing applications, and facilitating the selection of candidates to ensure compliance in the hiring, transfer and promotion of employees.
+ Monitors, creates, and maintains appropriate employee documentation as it pertains to the hiring and selection process, changes to employee status, pay and benefits, annual performance appraisal process, employee relations investigations, employee discipline, and employee terminations to maintain compliance with internal and external policies and regulations.
+ Assists with on-going development projects by verifying data and testing system's ability to support existing or new processes.
+ Co-ordinates bonus program payouts by obtaining necessary plan and performance documentation, confirming employee eligibility and payment calculation methods, compiling payment information, and coordinating payment logistics to ensure correct and effective implementation of the programs.
+ Administers various human resource, employee education, benefit and compensation programs and responds to employee inquiries on these programs.
+ Ensures all applicable legal requirements are met to minimise exposure to liability and works closely with legal counsel in situations which pose a litigation risk or other liability.
+ Participates in maintaining an accurate job documentation system by conducting job analyses for jobs as needed.
+ Conducts all aspects of the job with appropriate level of confidentiality and sensitivity to employee and organisational data by storing documents carefully, holding conversations in private where appropriate, and not disclosing confidential information except on a need-to-know basis.
+ Conducts employee training in a variety of areas to ensure employees are properly trained in necessary techniques and/or possess the knowledge needed to fulfill job duties and responsibilities.
+ Represents business unit in Abbott-wide human resource teams and projects by conducting research, analysing data, and compiling statistical reports and information.
+ May be involved in negotiating fees and contracts with outside vendors.
+ Inputs, maintains, trouble-shoots and audits confidential data related to employee relations, training, personnel, compensation and benefits. Develops, maintains and provides reports, including metrics reports related to HR.
+ Co-ordinates and/or assists with employee events.
**EDUCATION & COMPETENCIES:**
+ (Experience/Education) National Framework of Qualifications
+ NFQ level 7 qualification in a relevant discipline. Relevant work experience advantageous but not essential or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
+ (Technical/Business Knowledge (Job Skills)) General knowledge and basic application of business concepts, procedures and practices. Will perform this job in a quality system environment. Failure to adequately perform tasks can result in noncompliance with governmental regulations.
