The objective of the Human Resources Generalist is to serve as an onsite resource to the LA Darling (LAD) leadership; providing first class service to all internal client’s and provide guidance related to employee relations, risk management, payroll, benefits and more. This role will be engaged in strategic planning and change management to help establish and maintain a best-in-class HR department and help foster an "Employer of Choice" workplace.

In the absence of the Director of HR, the HR Generalist serves as the Human Resources point of contact and oversees all Human Resources related matters.

NATURE AND SCOPE: 

HR Generalist – Individual Contributor (No Direct Reports)

Under the direction Director of HR, the Human Resources Generalist manages and maintains all personnel information, employee wage and benefit administration via ADP and Workday, and aligns manpower needs weekly. This role will also work as a safety partner to the business.

Key demands and challenges include:

Fulfilling the needs of the HR internal and external customers for human resources information in an effectively and with time efficiency.Ensure wage and benefit plans are followed with respect to Company rules and State and Federal laws, and managed appropriately in ADP and Workday, where applicable.Successfully accomplish departmental and company objectives as assigned by the Director of HR or leadership effectively and within the appropriate timelines.Works confidentially with employee’s information or those who are having job related or policy related problems or questions.Have confidence to think independently and make sound decisions with confidence.Partner with the Director of HR and the designated leader as needed.

ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Ensure LA Darling employees are complying with all company rules and objectives and within the state and federal laws.Engage in and coordinate weekly manpower decisions, planning and execution – Regular and Temporary.Work with the Director of HR and LAD leadership on organization strategies by identifying and researching human resources issues; contributing information, analysis, and recommendations to organization strategic thinking and direction.Partner with the Director of HR and LAD leadership on talent acquisition, staffing and execute functions related to employment processing, including:Sourcing and recruitingNew hire Compensation and health and welfare benefitsNew hire Onboarding, training, and continuous developmentApplicable records managementEEO compliance, the law and labor relations rules and regulations related to Talent Acquisition and staffing.Partner with the Director of HR on applicable employee relations including coaching, counseling, discipline, and engage the Director of HR where applicable and necessary.Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.Partners with the Director of HR and Operations on all risk management, safety, and workers’ compensation.Manages FMLA, STD (via the Standard), WC, and other leaves according to policy.Responsible for administering wage and benefit plans via Workday. Manages applicable payroll functions via ADP and Workday including reporting and data entry.Other projects as assigned.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

Must be detailed orientated with a high level of accuracy.Able to analyze written information and situational information to make sound decisions or recommendations.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including consultative approach and listening skills.Fundamental understanding of leadership and team development.Ability to work in a Human Resources environment and work with in HRIS systems.Must a team player demonstrate resourcefulness, initiative, results-orientation, and a constant focus on service delivery.              

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree with 4 years’ experience or a HS Diploma/ GED with a minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in an HR role.MS office suite experience required, Workday HCM, ADP payroll and Kronos timekeeping applications experience preferred.
