Basic Job Functions:
American Buildings, a division of Nucor, is seeking an HR Generalist to join our team in El Paso, IL. This role offers the opportunity to lead our talent strategy, foster connections within the community, and support the diverse needs of our teammates.
What You’ll Do:
You’ll play a pivotal role in recruiting and talent acquisition while providing comprehensive HR support. Key responsibilities include:
Lead the Talent Strategy: Bring creativity and innovation to develop and execute American Buildings' long-term talent strategy. Community Engagement: Coordinate resources and build partnerships with local schools. Recruitment & Representation: Organize and represent the company at recruiting and community events to attract top talent. Policy Compliance: Review, update, and maintain HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations. Teammate Support: Guide leadership on HR-related issues, including policy interpretation, benefits administration, and serving as liaison between teammates and insurance carriers. Hiring & Onboarding: Facilitate the hiring and onboarding process for new teammates. Confidentiality & Payroll Support: Handle sensitive teammate information with discretion and provide backup support for payroll and other HR-related areas as needed.Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications: Two years prior Human Resource experience (i.e. recruitment, benefits, onboarding). Direct experience with common HR practices employment laws, procedures, and employment liability. Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience with SAP, Success Factors, or similar HCM. Prior experience in HR functions and payroll in a manufacturing environment. HR certification through HRCI or SHRM HR benefit experience (i.e. FMLA, LTD, insurance carriers).
