Discover more about us at www.amerihealthcaritas.com . **Responsibilities:** Reporting to the Manager, Leave Administration, the HR Leave and Accommodations Specialist is responsible for the administration of the Leave of Absence (LOA) process, short- and long-term disability, Family Medical Leave (FMLA), worker’s compensation, and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) for the associates of AmeriHealth Caritas. The HR Leave & Accommodation Specialist acts as a central point of contact with benefit vendors, executive leadership, management and associates providing education and problem resolution services. This position requires extensive interaction with associates of all levels and locations, Payroll, Benefits, Associate Relations, HR Business Partners, Corporate Legal and HRIS associates. This position manages both leave and accommodation requests in a manner that is consistent with AmeriHealth Caritas policies and processes and in accordance with applicable state and federal laws. + Provides HR consultation and education to all associates, including executive leaders, regarding leave and disability policies, laws, and procedures, including Family Medical Leave (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), worker’s compensation, short—and long-term disability, and all other state/local/municipality laws. Consultations are confidential, sensitive, and can be complex in nature.; + Acts as a liaison for their assigned business areas, including managing a high volume of leave and accommodation requests in accordance with AmeriHealth Caritas’ leave and accommodations policies and processes. Makes independent determinations based on company policies, procedures, and laws. + Facilitates the interactive process under the ADA between the associate and their supervisor to determine reasonable accommodations. This includes making independent decisions on reasonable accommodations that will also support business area-specific needs. Will escalate to direct manager when needed.; + Collaborates with HR COEs to leverage expertise in order to deliver best solutions to their assigned business areas in order to ensure alignment between leave and disability policies, procedures and laws, and business needs.; + Processes transactions within PeopleSoft to place associates on leave and return from leave and works with Corporate Systems and Identity Management to deactivate and activate associate access while on leave.; + Partners with Leave & Disability third-party administrators to ensure compliance and tracking of leave and accommodation requests.; + Consults with Corporate Legal on matters that need escalation or legal opinion. + Ensures the LOA program(s) are compliant with state and federal leave of absence laws as well as Company policies. + Applies attention to detail and critical thinking in reviewing required medical documentation in order to determine eligibility and status of ADA accommodations and make independent decisions.; + Addresses worker’s compensation and ergonomic requests with the assistance of Facilities. Works as a liaison to the workers' compensation vendor.; + Provides high-quality, timely and professional customer service to all associates and colleagues. + Interacts with all levels of associates, including executive leadership, both within and outside of the organization, regarding leave and accommodation process and policies.; + The HR Leave & Accommodation Specialist may also work on special HR or Benefits-related projects outside the immediate scope of this role. + Maintains professional knowledge and experience. ; **Education/Experience:** + Bachelor’s Degree in HR, business, or related field or equivalent experience + 2-5 years of general administrative experience are required. + 3-5 ;years of disability or leave management experience is required. + Experience with Payroll and HRIS systems – preferably ADP and Oracle PeopleSoft – is a plus. + Proven skills and responsibility for operational and technical HR duties including electronic data entry; paper and electronic file maintenance; maintenance of confidential personnel files and personnel actions in compliance with applicable legal requirements; miscellaneous associate requests; assistance with exit interview process; assisting HR Business Partners with projects. + Proven skills and ability to familiarize self with associate handbooks, policies, benefits and reference materials to assist in answering associates’ questions. + Proven verbal and written communication skills. + Ability to apply concepts of basic business mathematics and calculate figures and amounts. + Must be extremely customer-service oriented, organized, detailed, able to multi-task, work under pressure, meet deadlines, be a self-starter, and be able to assist where and when needed. + Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, is required.; + Prior experience with Leave Administration software. + PHR or CEBS certification is preferred. NOTE: ;AmeriHealth Caritas utilizes a hybrid work environment with associates working from home two days a week and in the office three days a week.
