Human Resources HR Manager Overview The HR manager promotes and implements human resource values by planning and managing human resources programs Provides and maintains a competent motivated workforce by directing staff and provides guidance and assistance to department heads in the application of company policies interpretation of employment laws and guidance on employeeemployer relations issues Responsibilities Manages and directs employee recruitment relations retention training and health benefit activities Develops and recommends new procedures which reflect changes in company objectives Administers and communicates employment policies procedures and programs Reviews and advises management staff on matters dealing with discipline employee assistance and workers compensationsafety to ensure adherence with company policies and procedures and legal requirements Directs develops and implements effective employee communication programs through inhouse publications and other communication tools Works to promote open communication between employees and management to promote a positive working environment Reviews and monitors written employee performance evaluations disciplinary actions and other human resourcesrelated matters to identify potential problems andor issues of concern Additional duties as assigned Requirements A minimum of years of progressive human resources experience in a medium to large organization with experience leading teams and assessing human resources services A minimum of years in the role of a HR manager An affinity for the service sector is essential Demonstrated success in HR systems and HR policypractice Experience with negotiation and influencing at senior management levels A leadership style that will incite enthusiasm provide vision create positive morale and act as a role model for standards of professionalism Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary to support a diverse associate population as well as the growth of First Nations associates Strong facilitation and interpersonal skills are essential Ability and willingness to develop presentations as required A track record of effective human resources decisionmaking and an quoturgency to executequot attitude is essential for this fastpaced environment
