MISSION / SUMMARY:

Under general direction, responsible for assisting and supporting the Human Resources Manager and Human Resources Supervisor in all facets to include, but not limited to: payroll administration, recruiting/staffing, policy interpretation, HRIS reporting, employee relations, benefits administration, and new hire orientation. 
 

SUMMARY:

The HR/Payroll Coordinator provides HR / Payroll support in the following areas: staffing, payroll, employee relations, training/development, reporting, event planning, recruitment, onboarding, communication, HR communication/policy data updates, record keeping, Site communications processes including site calendar, newsletters and SharePoint development activities for HR and other related areas. Understand and align business operations and Human Resources functions as he/she executes their role to exceed internal customer expectations and align with GPI business, cultural, financial, and operational objectives. Actively supports and participates in the plant safety, housekeeping, and continuous improvement efforts.

 

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include, but are not limited to the following:

 

EMPLOYEE RELATIONS: 

This role will provide administrative support to the HR and plant team including acting as a first point of contact for current employees.  Coordinates the administration and proper maintenance of the site HRIS (Human Resources Information System) databases by updating employee records and generating reports as needed. Contribute to special HR projects and initiatives as assigned. Takes an active role in benefits administration to include conducting open enrollment meetings for hourly employees and serving as a resource to aid employees with benefit inquires.  Provide general administrative support, including responding to general questions, scheduling meetings, etc. Manages and maintains all employee files in accordance to GPI record retention, HR policies and HR Audit Guidelines. Coordinates the collection and preparation of routine and ad hoc human resource reports including, but not limited to the HR scorecard. Champions various employee culture initiatives, i.e. Service Award Program. Maintains adequate inventory of departmental office supplies. Other duties as assigned.

 

Payroll:

Site-wide Payroll responsibility Weekly processing of automated hourly payroll (approximately 425 employees) per the Collective Bargaining Agreement in ADP timekeeping system. Timely processing of wage attachments/garnishments through corporate legal and/or payroll Administers annual safety shoe reimbursements and deductions in SAP. Routinely audits departmental files for adherence to HR Audit Guidelines.

 

STAFFING: 

Assist in the scheduling of applicants for interviews and applicant databases Assist with the scheduling and delivery of new hire orientation/onboarding employees.

EMPLOYEE RECORD PROCESSING: 

Maintaining employee records and ensuring compliance. Support the administration of employee benefits and compensation programs, open enrollment, new hire enrollment. Process Human Resource Information System data to HRIS team and maintain as necessary. 

COMPLIANCE: 

Support the proper maintenance of HR / Payroll documentation and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures as well as legal regulations.

INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS 

Act as an on-site communications conduit for internal communications.  Maintain plant SharePoint HR site, Site Payroll calendar. Develop and distribute monthly employee Newsletter and announcements.

Supports plant and department goals in safety, environmental compliance, quality, cost, productivity, and continuous improvement.

BACKGROUND EXPERIENCE:

Previous experience (1-2 years) in an HR / Payroll support role or accounting/ administrative capacity is desirable. Experience with SAP and ADP software preferred. Experience in a unionized work environment preferred. Knowledge of HR/Payroll practices, employment laws, and regulations is a plus. Proficiency in MS Office Suite and HRIS systems; experience with HR/Payroll/Timekeeping software is advantageous. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to multitask effectively. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred, but not required. Knowledge of HR/Payroll practices, employment laws, and regulations is a plus. Proficiency in MS Office Suite and HRIS systems; experience with HR/Payroll/Timekeeping software is advantageous. Ability to manipulate and analyze data using pivot tables, v -lookups and Excel formulas. Knowledge of employment law (EEO, ADA, FML, etc.). PHR or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) credentials preferred.

Ability to manage confidential data with a high level of professionalism. Must demonstrate flexibility when work assignments or priorities change and a willingness to ensure the overall effectiveness of the HR / Payroll function. Ability to prepare correspondence and documents with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Be resourceful in accomplishing work tasks and objectives. Ability to interact in a helpful, courteous and professional manner. Demonstrate sense of urgency and level of energy required to effectively deliver HR services in a fast-paced environment.

 

SCHEDULE DEMANDS:

General schedule is an 8-hour M-F assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so. Infrequent overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Sitting or standing for extended periods of time up to 8-hours. Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs. Reading computer screen or other electronic devices. Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.

Pay Range:   $ 48,165 - $60,230
