Job Description
Murphy Company is currently looking for HR/Payroll Specialist in our headquarter office located in Eugene, Oregon. Murphy Company is a family owned and leading North American manufacturer of high-quality wood products. We operate six facilities throughout Oregon and Washington.

PRIMARY PURPOSE: This position includes tasks including but not limited to performing the duties associated with a payroll/ human resource specialist. Included are tasks such as time keeping, payroll processing, benefits administration, employee interaction, and other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following.
+ Work with the Supervisors to manage timekeeping for the Eugene plant.
+ Process benefit enrollment, changes, and termination.
+ Audit medical and dental weekly claims and monthly bills.
+ Assist with payroll processing for 750+ employees from six locations in two states.
+ Assist with processing and entering new hire paperwork.
+ Update payroll records by entering changes in hourly rates, exemptions, banking information, payroll deductions, and job title and department/division transfers.
+ Maintaining and processing of garnishment orders.
+ Produce professional communications such as emails, letters, memos, etc. on behalf of members of senior management.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Preferred Bachelor or Associates Degree; Required 5 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent working knowledge FMLA/OFLA compliance, unemployment filings, workers compensation, and payroll compliance is necessary.
COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have Microsoft Office skills; including moderate to advanced Excel abilities and a working knowledge of Kronos Workforce Ready or similar payroll system is required.
OTHER SKILLS: Requires excellent organizational, problem-solving skills and the ability to work successfully independently or as a team. Must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in various forms. Friendly and professional demeanor that enjoys interacting with the public as well as company employees, with a willingness to cross-train in other administrative areas.
