The HRBP Manager is a collaborative member of the West Monroe leadership team and will work closely with the VP, Paperboard Manufacturing Manager, and other leaders on driving the people and culture agenda.  The HRBP Manager will provide coaching, consulting, support, policy interpretation and application to include matters relating to the site’s labor and employee relations. This role is responsible for ensuring management’s consistent execution of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and adherence to labor regulations and company policies. In partnership with the leadership team, the HR Leader drives culture initiatives that include employee communications, employee engagement, health & wellness, community involvement, rewards & recognition, performance management, and a variety of other people and culture initiatives.  This position is responsible for developing a team of HR professionals to build strong partnerships with the leaders and employees and drive global HR priorities.  HRBP Manager will report to the Sr. HR Leader and lead a team of multiple direct reports.

 

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to, the following.

Provide employee & labor relations counseling and problem-solving for managers and employees to ensure a productive work environment, consistency with company values and policies, and compliance with state and federal regulatory law. Support employee relations within the facility, ensuring compliance with company policies and supporting a positive work culture.  Partner and engage with Labor Relations, Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Total Rewards, and People Services teams to provide HR support and solutions. Coach, mentor, and develop the HR team.  Drive career development planning and align team goals to the company’s HR strategy and objectives.  Lead key initiatives and local strategy to attract, develop, and retain the talent needed to meet business objectives.  Partners with the leadership team to drive meaningful and actionable engagement action plans that support a positive work culture. Develop recruiting strategies for hourly and salaried positions. Coordinates and participates in the recruiting and selection process.  Drive the succession planning process and ensure the best fit of talent and capabilities proactively support the business and talent strategy. Investigate employee relation issues such as employee grievances, complaints, and harassment allegations and recommend appropriate action. Oversee the areas of employment, affirmative action, employee benefits, compensation, performance appraisal programs, personnel record keeping, unemployment claims and employee relations, training, and HRIS for the operating location Manage the Collective Bargaining Agreement and Labor Relations, including contract administration responsibilities: Partnering with the Labor Relations team to negotiate the sites’ Collective Bargaining Agreements and facilitating a partnership with the local Union Committee and local Business Agent. Administration and coordination of the grievance process. Lead and/or participate in various project teams, which may include local, divisional, and corporate teams. Work closely with Technical training dept Regularly participate in all business-related meetings, including daily production meetings.  Be available to perform weekend duty responsibilities. Up to 10% travel Other duties as assigned

 

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

External candidates must have a minimum of eight (8) years’ experience managing Human Resources, preferably in a diverse, unionized, heavy manufacturing environment. Strong coaching and influencing skills. Proven track record of managing multiple labor-related activities such as the grievance process, arbitrations, contract negotiation preparation to include contingency planning, and participating in the negotiation process. Expertise in thinking and operating like a business leader operating in the HR space.  Strong business and financial acumen, with the ability to influence business and functional leaders. Experience managing multiple human resources business partner disciplines at all levels, from production to professional-level employees Prior experience managing an HR team at different levels. Paper Mill experience preferred.

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or Business is required; Masters preferred PHR or SPHR certification preferred Demonstrated knowledge of Labor Relations and NLRB regulations Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state employment laws and other government compliance regulations.

Ability to maintain composure during emergency situations.

 SCHEDULE DEMANDS:

General schedule is day shift M-F assignment. However, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally, which may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekend mill duty. Limited overnight travel to include flying, driving or riding. Must be able to respond to issues on all shifts.

 PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Sitting or standing for extended periods of time up to 8 hours. Occasional lifting up to 15 pounds – office supplies, binders Reading of computer screens or other electronic devices. Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment such as staplers and paper punch. Ability to be out in the Paperboard Manufacturing production areas.

 

Pay Range:   $101,840.00 - $135,755.00
