The HRIS Payroll Generalist I is responsible for processing accurate and timely payroll, maintaining HRIS systems, supporting employee inquires, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and contributing to process improvements. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in payroll best practices and system management.
ResponsibilitiesEssential Duties & Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned
Prepare and process weekly and bi-weekly payrolls for all employees using payroll system, ensuring accuracy and compliance.Manage payroll data, including hours worked, deductions, bonuses, adjustments, and travel reimbursements.Audit payroll records, including timecards, benefits deductions, and tax compliance, to ensure accuracy.Ensure payroll practices comply with FLSA, tax laws, and other federal, state, and local regulations.Generate, audit, and distribute payroll and benefits reports for leadership, accounting, and external stakeholders.Assist with preparing and submitting tax reporting, W-2s, and other required documentation.Address payroll-related inquiries and educate employees on payroll policies, deductions, and adjustments.Provide phone support for the HR department phone queue.Provide customer service support for HRIS system users, assisting with time sheets, accrual balances, and troubleshooting.Manage HRIS/Payroll systems, including upgrades, troubleshooting, and testing.Write and maintain reports, user procedures, and documentation for system functionality.Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance payroll and HRIS operations.Maintain organized payroll records, ensuring data integrity and compliance with policies.Assist in internal and external audits related to payroll and benefits administration. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate or bachelor’s degree in business administration, information systems, or a related field preferred. Certification in payroll (e.g., CPP, FPC) is a plus.Three or more years of payroll or HRIS experience required. Experience with payroll software and report-writing tools preferred.Experience using Microsoft Excel and Word.Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.Must be able to handle sensitive, highly confidential information.Ability to prioritize and be able to work independently.Strong observation and listening skills.Strong attention to detail.Demonstrate accuracy and productivity in a changing environment with constant interruptions.The hours for this position are 8:00am - 4:30pm or 8:30am - 5:00pm, Monday through Friday.
