Environmental Health **Location** Campus **City** Salt Lake City, UT **Type of Recruitment** Internal to the University **Pay Rate Range** $20-$28.50 per hour DOQ **Close Date** **Job Summary** We are seeking a graduate research assistant (doctoral-level) from any discipline to lead the development of a manuscript focused on how employers can prepare for disruptive events (e.g. COVID -19, natural disasters) by creating communication and feedback structures that are focused on the needs of workers. This manuscript will include an examination of the core competencies of _Total Worker Health®,_ an approach to occupational safety and health that seeks to protect workers against hazards while promoting well-being. **Prior knowledge of occupational health and employer communication is welcome but not necessary.** This manuscript will present findings from _Incorporating Worksite Interventions in Safety and Health: Building Capacity for Total Worker Health ( IWISH ),_ a research study examining employer response to COVID -19 from the perspectives of frontline workers and supervisors. After conducting a literature review and creating a framework for a manuscript, the RA will work with the IWISH research team to incorporate research project findings into the larger context of what we know about employer preparedness for disruptive events. Before the RA begins work, U- POWER will provide an orientation to Total Worker Health ( TWH ) and IWISH , as well as a list of potential articles to help the RA orient themselves within the literature. Please note that is a grant-funded position and is contingent upon continued funding. **Responsibilities** _Duties will include, but are not limited to:_ + Conducting a search of the existing peer-reviewed and gray literature on how employers can prepare for disruptive events by having structures in place to share information, gain feedback, and make decisions that are acceptable to workers. + Organizing and maintaining references via a citation manager (e.g. EndNote, Zotero) + Outlining, drafting, and revising an introduction that describes the overall status of the literature and positions the research project within that larger context. + Outlining, drafting, and revising the rest of the manuscript, including relevant findings from the research project, in collaboration with the research team. + Preparing the manuscript for submission (e.g. formatting for selected journal, writing an abstract, identifying keywords, etc.) The RA will work under the supervision of Dr. Camie Schaefer, Associate Director of U- POWER , but will primarily interface with Drs. Lisa Gren and Jeremy Biggs, Principal Investigators (PIs) of IWISH . **Minimum Qualifications** **Preferences** + Ideal candidates will have experience and familiarity with University of Utah library resources, including peer-reviewed resources. + Strong organizational, writing, and editing skills are also preferred. + Currently pursuing a doctoral-level or equivalent graduate degree at the University of Utah. **Special Instructions Summary** In addition to a resume, please attach a cover letter that discusses your academic background and your interest in the position and/or U- POWER more generally and a writing sample.
