HSE Advisor

Ameresco currently has a new opportunity in the UK for a HSE Advisor to support construction, operations and maintenance activities and ensure a safe, healthy, incident free work environment within our UK and European project sites.
Responsibilities
Support the HSE Manager in the management of health, safety, environmental and quality for Ameresco activities, including the implementation of the Integrated Management System (IMS) to ensure compliance with ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 certifications.
The position will play a key role in helping to establish and maintain the highest and where possible, new industry health, safety and environmental standards on our projects.
• Understand the Ameresco Ltd Health & Safety and Environmental Policies and Processes and statutory requirements as they affect the Ameresco operations and ensure that the requirements are implemented
• Provide operational and functional management advice on the practical implementation of the company’s Health and Safety policy and processes including external stakeholders such as customers if necessary.
• Provide health, safety and environmental support for projects across Europe. This will involve infrequent travels to our European project sites.
• Assist, where needed, with the development of Health and Safety Management plans if applicable and coordination of review
• Provide operational and functional management with advice on the prevention of accidents, incidents and ill health
• Assist the HSE Manager, in key tasks to assist in the development, management, implementation and monitoring of the integrated Management System (IMS)
• Assist the HSE Manager and/ or Implementation Team in establishing, managing and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders such as local authorities, Health and Safety Executive and others as required and directed
• Provide advice, guidance and independence with regards to the assessment of and appointment of sub-contractors
• Assist with and undertake health, safety and environmental surveillance where required of operational sites. Participate, as requested in health, safety and environmental audits
• When directed, assist if necessary with the preparation of risk assessments and safe systems of work.
• Assist with the monitoring, analysis of and reporting of health ,safety and environmental performance. Utilise data to highlight areas of further consideration, evaluation and intervention
• Assist and/or manage the investigation of accidents, incidents, dangerous occurrences, near misses and other incidents as directed.
• Promote best practice, capture best practice and ensure it is fed-back into the business
• Set standards and lead by example in the management of health, safety and environment
• Liaise with the wider organisation with regards to health safety and environment
• Maintain own level of knowledge and competency in relations to health, safety and environmental management responsibilities including appropriate qualifications and professional membership
Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety Management OR a minimum of 4 years related experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
• IEMA certification or equivalent
• Minimum 4 years large scale commercial/ government/ industrial construction project safety management.
• NEBOSH General or Construction Qualification.
• Comprehensive experience of CDM.
• Chartered Member (CMIOSH) or Graduate Member (GradIOSH) with demonstrable CPD working towards CMIOSH
• Internal Auditing Certification
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
• Current certifications in First Aid, CPR,
• Ability to manage positive and effective interpersonal, functional, organizational relationships with all parties.
• Excellent verbal, written, and computer communication and presentation skills.
• Valid Driver License issued by state of residence and in good standing.
• Ability to travel and provide on-call response required.
