Job Description
Leads the Kuna multi-discipline field team providing H&S oversight, engineering oversight, environmental documentation, and survey support for a large road construction project near Red Dog Mine.
Responsibilities
Provides leadership to a field team of up to 8 individuals including employees and subcontractors.
Serves as the single point-of-contact between the office based Kuna Project Manager and the client field manager.
Manages daily reporting requirements including numerous environmental reports and inspections.
Leads and is responsible for the reporting requirements for any environmental incidents and leads response actions.
Provides quality check reviews and helps ensure quality protocols are being followed by the field team members.
Assists in field tasks as necessary.
Trains employees on safety and health requirements to ensure compliance with regulations when necessary.
Manages accidents from a medical standpoint from initial visits, surgeries &/or follow-ups to ensure patient advocacy and health.
Develop and forward reports of injuries to customers and upper management.
Identifies potential causes for accidents and recommends changes in policies and procedures to prevent accidents and illness.
Immediately report all Incidents/Accidents, no matter how small, to their Supervisor.
This position has supervisory responsibilities.
Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success also may be assigned.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Minimum five (5) years related experience.
Intermediate skillset with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Previous experience in the construction and/or mining or resource extraction industry required.
Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under company vehicle insurance policy.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Weather: Indoors/Outdoors – Frequent exposure to moderate to harsh weather conditions. Requires work to be done both inside and outside, including winter time work in the arctic.
Noise level: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however some work will be around active construction equipment; hearing protection to be provided.
Description of environment: Frequently required to be outside at construction/project sites. Also occasionally inside in standard field office setting (work trailer). Project site accommodations will be at a mancamp.
Physical requirements: Employee is required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.
Travel: This position is rotational with travel from Anchorage to the project site for a two-week on, two-week off rotation. On-site modes of transportation may include helicopter, ATV, and/or snow machine.
Travel may require an employee or contractor to pass a TSA security checkpoint. If the employee or contractor does not have valid identification, they will not be able to travel until valid identification is obtained and verified.
