HSE Lead Mediterranean

We are seeking a passionate and committed professional to join our team as HSE Lead Mediterranean Area, based in our central office in Athens. In this key role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for all our employees and business products across Greece.

Your Key Responsibilities

Ensure and verify, including through regular audits, that our employees and any supplier/subcontractor working with Syngenta operate scrupulously in a manner that complies with applicable laws and Syngenta's safety, health, and environmental policies, establishing corrective action plans where necessary.Help ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all employees (internal and external).Provide all company departments with guidance, technical support, and training regarding Safety, Health, and Environment.Work together with the Fleet Manager to secure the high level of skills and capabilities for car drivers, organizing safety driving trainings.Support effective risk assessment in the area of HSE for our own company offices and warehouses.Collaborate with Facility Management regarding Athens office to secure high HSE standardsEnsure and verify operation under ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001 standards for Sindos and Anthoussa warehouse and office premises, actively engage in the annual recertification process.Verify that owned warehouse sites, as well as transport service providers interacting with Syngenta, operate in compliance with existing legislation (e.g., Seveso Law, ADR, etc.) and Syngenta policies regarding HSEQS.Ensure compliance with HSE requirements, local legislation for all relevant Syngenta processes and policies.Contribute actively as a member of the Syngenta Emergency Management Team and assist the Managing Director, perform annual training of the EMST.Manage HSE reporting systems. Coordinate and track progress of HSE improvement projects.In collaboration with the Managing Director, represent Syngenta to Local Association regarding product safety and all HSES topics.Provide legislative updates regarding HSE and update procedures accordingly.Manage the agreed expenditure budget for all company activities related to your function.Contribute to creating a culture where HSE aspects are integrated into all activities and departments within the Company.Liaise with Regional leaders to ensure the effective roll-out of global programs/documentation updates in the Mediterranean.Support the sharing of best practices across the function.

Qualifications

What You'll Need

Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Engineering for Occupational, Environmental Safety (Master's degree will be considered a plus).3+ years of experience in HSE management, preferably within an in-house warehouse/logistics operation in the chemical, agro-business or pharma industry.Native Greek language and fluent in English (written and spoken).Experience with ISO standards implementation and conducting HSE audits.Knowledge of warehouse logistics and quality operations and processes with regards to HSEQS.Knowledge of legislation related to personal and environmental safety and transportation (ADR/IATA/RID).In-depth technical knowledge of chemical issues (knowledge of the agro-business will be considered a plus).Demonstrated experience with ERP systems.Advanced computer skills.Communication and presentation skills.Stakeholder management.Continuous Improvement mindset.
