Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Manager of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) to lead our safety initiatives across multiple facilities and geographies. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving HSE programs to ensure regulatory compliance, promote a strong safety culture, and drive operational excellence reporting to the Director of EHS. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of safety certifications, 5S systems, and multi-site HSE management.
Job Duties:
+ Oversee HSE programs for two facilities in the State of Ohio, ensuring consistency, compliance, and risk mitigation
+ Ensure adherence to OSHA, EPA, ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and other relevant safety and environmental regulations. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local, state, and federal laws
+ Implement and maintain industry-recognized safety certifications. Develop and conduct employee training programs to enhance safety awareness and compliance
+ Champion and reinforce 5S principles (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) to drive workplace organization, efficiency, and safety culture improvements
+ Develop risk assessments, emergency response plans, and corrective action strategies to minimize incidents and improve workplace safety
+ Conduct and oversee internal and external audits, site inspections, and compliance reviews. Drive continuous improvement initiatives based on findings
+ Utilize safety metrics, leading indicators, and KPIs to measure performance, identify trends, and implement proactive safety measures
+ Partner with Operations, HR, and Facilities teams to integrate HSE best practices into daily workflows.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field; or commensurate experience required.
+ Five plus years in an HSE role required.
+ Understanding of OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, ANSI, and other relevant safety and environmental regulations required.
+ Excellent leadership, training, and stakeholder engagement skills to promote a proactive safety culture required.
+ Ability to assess risks, analyze trends, and implement data-driven solutions required.
+ + Ability to pass physical, drug, driving, and background check required.
+ Ability to physically push, pull, and lift 25 lbs. or more required.
+ Ability to sit, stand, stoop, bend and walk for four plus hours at a time required.
+ Alignment with company core values required.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager), or equivalent highly preferred.
+ Minimum 5 years of HSE leadership experience in manufacturing, logistics, or industrial environments; oversight of multiple facilities preferred.
+ Proven track record of implementing and sustaining a 5S culture and workplace organization improvements strongly preferred.
