Located in our Melbourne office at the World Trade Centre on Wurundjeri land or working from our Sydney HQ, Sydney Olympic Park, on Wann-gal land, this role offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact in health, safety, and environment (HSE) management.
You will play a key role in leading the HSE risk and assurance programs across Thales, helping to ensure identification and effective management of HSE-related hazards and risks, a risk-based approach to assurance is embedded, and collaborating closely with various business lines to develop and monitor effective risk reduction strategies and improvement actions.
Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain the HSE risk management framework, and safety assurance program
Coordinate the analysis and reporting of risk and assurance information, ensuring clear communication of results
Drive continuous improvement of HSE risk management systems and processes
Manage the risk and assurance review schedule to ensure compliance with regulations
Facilitate risk assessments and advise on risk exposures, control measures, and their effectiveness
Monitor compliance deficiencies and data trends, creating reporting systems to track issues and action plans
Collaborate with Operations and HSE teams for effective risk and 1st and 2nd line assurance programs and processes
Administer safety and risk management systems and licensed software
Engage and manage stakeholders effectively
On day one in this role, we'll expect you to bring the following skills, experience and behaviours:
Solid experience in safety, risk management, or operations within industrial processing plants, heavy industry, or defence environments
Must have a solid understanding of risk management and assurance principles and frameworks
Strong analytical mindset and a hands-on approach with a strong desire to understand operations within individual business lines is essential
Strong influencing skills to engage multiple stakeholders across all organisational levels, from frontline personnel to senior leaders with the ability to drive positive outcomes
Experienced in facilitating a variety of risk assessment methodologies, including Risk Assessment, HAZOP, LOPA, and FMEA
Lead Auditor qualification
Proficient in statistical data analysis and common software packages
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering, safety, or a related field; advanced degrees and extensive industrial experience will also be considered.
Ability to obtain Australian Defence Clearances
