Position: HTM Clinical Engineer
Location: Remote

Major Responsibilities:
Works with Patient Safety to determine needs for medical equipment education. Develops, and/or reviews, emergency and safety related plans for the use and operation of medical equipment. Reviews safety alert and equipment recall notices and takes appropriate actions to ensure that equipment is tested and/or removed from service, where appropriate. Performs incident investigation and equipment performance analysis as required in response to patient or employee related injuries related to medical equipment use, assisting with compliance requirements of the Safe Medical Devices Act.Develops and maintains a standardized database listing of manufacturers, equipment descriptions, acquisition costs, model numbers and other indices needed to consolidate and standardize the entire medical equipment inventory. Develops scheduled maintenance schedules and guidelines for medical equipment maintained by the Healthcare Technology Management department.Assist site leaders in the evaluation and supervision of technical staff as they perform duties and responsibilities related to technical support of medical equipment. Collects, reviews and makes recommendations on failure rate and scheduled maintenance outcome data on all covered equipment.Coordinates and participates in special projects such as: new equipment purchase planning, vendor proposals, installation planning, equipment upgrades, equipment disposal, networking and integration of medical equipment systems.Conducts New Team Member On-Boarding to educate team members on processes and tools utilized by the Healthcare Technology Management department. Performs onsite surveys to evaluate the physical environment where medical equipment is used; provisions for the maintenance of medical equipment; and staff knowledge of policies, procedures, and guidelines.Trains in-house technical staff in the proper procedures to be followed when performing (and documenting) scheduled preventive maintenance and quality assurance testing procedures on patient care equipment. Develops annual competency evaluation tools and makes judgements on staff deficiencies and corrective actions. Recommends adjustments to scheduled maintenance work assignments based on medical equipment service needs at customer sites. Coordinates special project requests and works with Regional Directors and site leaders to be utilize staffing resources. Evaluates the technical competencies of front-line team members and makes recommendations for additional training and work assignments.
