Human Factors Engineer for Maintenance

Job Description:

Assist in the development and design of the Human Factors Analysis and Classification System (HFACS) process. Apply HFACS methodologies and best practices to develop, evaluate, analyze, and test in the maintenance department. Write and evaluate Human Factors (HF) requirements to maximize safety. Develop HF verification plans for maintaining quality assurance. Perform HFACS analyses including task and human errors. Provide HF and ergonomics design to support Continuing Analysis and Surveillance System (CASS) and Regulatory Compliance teams. Develop and deliver awareness and training courses for the department. Work as a liaison between the maintenance department, safety department, and others to validate findings and assumptions. Perform HF evaluation and safety assessments, present findings, and recommend mitigations. Provide HF support in Maintenance operations. Collaborate with the maintenance department to validate HF assumptions and to ensure the maintenance data for tracking and trending. Effectively communicate with internal customers both verbally and in writing, including Engineering organizations, Planning, Maintenance, Inspection, NDT, Materials, and Maintenance programs. Collect, organize, visualize, and assimilate data by turning raw data into meaningful information using data-oriented programming languages and visualization software. Perform risk assessments to mitigate modifications to post-Airworthiness Directive configurations. Conducts investigations at maintenance bases and contract vendor facilities into regulatory non-compliance issues. Conducts investigations of reports regarding potential non-compliance with regulatory standards or other safety risk controls established by the company. Establishes and maintains fleet Airworthiness Directive (AD) master list and aircraft-specific AD compliance listings.

Job Requirements:

1. Master’s degree in Aeronautics with concentration or specialization in Human Factors in Aviation.

2. Other education and/or experience must include:

Internship or employment experience with aviation safety.Aerodynamics, aircraft performance, turbine engines, electric flight management systems, aircraft systems & components, aviation weather, aviation law and airline operational applications.Research methods, statistical analysis and data analytics tools including IBM SPSS Statistics and Microsoft Power BI.Operational experience with Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP).Aviation maintenance software and aircraft maintenance practices.Research, experiment design, task analysis, usability testing, aircraft safety protocols, data collection, and analysis.Human cognition, human factors in aviation industry, aviation psychology, air carrier operations, and airline transportation systems.

3. Must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
