Human Resource Business Partner

The Human Resource Business Partner (HRBP) collaborates with the operations teams to prove HR guidance and support. The HRBP maintains an effective level of business literacy with regard to financial position, employee turnover, and strategic goals.

Additionally, The Human Resources Business Partner is a dedicated individual who provides support in all areas of HR to include employee relations, performance management, development, leave management, etc. The Human Resources Business Partner serves as a partner and coach to leaders in the organization to foster a positive workplace environment and company culture. The HRBP is also responsible for day-to-day management of leave of absence (LOA), Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), or state-specific leave cases for designated region(s). This individual actively applies a solid foundation and knowledge of HR best practices to promote and enforce company policies and procedures, while ensuring compliance with federal and state guidelines. This position is hybrid (Beverly, MA) or remote. 

Essential Functions:

Participates in weekly regional meetings. Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies. Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention. Provides guidance and input on workforce planning and succession planning. Works closely with HR group to determine training needs for the region and participates in the development and delivery of the plan. Acts as a first point of contact for HR inquiries, providing excellent customer service to employees. Applies a broad understanding of policies, procedures and relevant employment law. Ensures inquiries are addressed and resolved timely and appropriately. With support as necessary, treats each dialysis unit as a “client,” evaluates the needs and proactively develops, implements, and delivers strategic plans and recommendations which advance the unit’s success and maintain our core values. Provides field managers with interpretation and guidance regarding HR policies and legal compliance matters, including performance management, progressive discipline, leave of absence, and terminations to ensure fair and consistent application and compliance with applicable federal and state regulations. Promptly and thoroughly investigates human resource issues and complaints identifying any external department experts (legal, compliance, clinical etc.) needed to opine. Maintains effective documentation on all matters pertaining to investigations and problem resolution including the actions taken. Consults with regional leadership, medical directors & physician partners, directors of human resources, compliance, and legal counsel on highly complex or high-risk issues. Responsible for active, full-cycle management of leave of absence and ADA cases including administrative aspects and advising managers and employees on procedures and regulations. Determines employee FMLA eligibility and advises on course of action if not eligible. Applies solid understanding of state and federal laws when managing cases. Demonstrates understanding of when to escalate concerns, and/or provide notice of a potential high-risk issue or complex LOA case to next level manager/team member. Provides information to third party Short-Term Disability (STD) and Long-Term Disability (LTD) carrier to verify eligibility. Monitors STD and LTD claims management. Assists with the management of unemployment and worker’s compensation cases. Drafts and maintains Human Resources documents, complex spreadsheets, and generates reports and forms. Monitors, maintains, and updates several databases and HR reporting systems, ensuring accuracy and data integrity. Communicates effectively and handles sensitive information with discretion and professionalism. Adapts to changing business needs, adopts a continual improvement approach, and proactively identifies means to address reoccurring issues. Works to stay current with changing federal, state, and local laws and regulations as well as industry best practices. Effectively manages competing priorities while maintaining high standards of accuracy and attention to detail. Assists with various research, training and/or special projects as requested and performs other tasks and duties as assigned.

Position Type, Expected Hours of Work & Travel:

This is a Full-Time, hybrid (Beverly, MA), or remote position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Up to 15-20% travel may be required, including outside the local area and overnight.

Required Education and Experience:

- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience required, advanced degree or certification a plus (such as SHRM-CP, PHR, etc.).

- A minimum of 1-2 years in Human Resources required, with a focus on employee relations and/or leave administration strongly preferred.

- Experience in consultative environment strongly preferred.

- Excellent customer service skills and demonstrated ability to actively contribute as a team player.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

- Experience with HRIS systems preferred.
