Human Resources Director
Position Summary The Human Resources Director will lead the Human Resources team, with a strategic mindset and a strong sense of curiosity to continuously innovate and optimize HR practices. The HR Director will report directly to the President/CEO and will work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure the company’s long-term goals and values are met. They will oversee and guide Hoffman Construction’s HR areas of expertise, including Outreach, Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Talent Development, Benefits, ADA and Leave, and Early Career Programs. A deep understanding of Hoffman’s values, mission, and focus on people will enable the HR Director to integrate with the business and execute Human Resource initiatives and projects in alignment with Hoffman’s strategic plan, while ensuring legal compliance. They will build trusting relationships across all levels, functions, departments, and geographical locations to establish common objectives and strive for continuous improvement. This role will be fully in-office, reflecting Hoffman’s commitment to building strong personal connections. Starting in the first quarter of 2025, the Hoffman Construction Or. office will relocate from Portland to Lake Oswego, Oregon. Salary Range: $110,000.00 - $150,000.00/Annual Responsibilities Essential Responsibilities: + Monitor best practices within the construction and HR industries, making recommendations that support company culture and goals. + Analysis of organizational trends leveraging data from the HRIS and other systems to provide actionable insight to leaders and stakeholders. + Lead the development of actionable HR projects and goals aligned with the organization’s strategic objectives, ensuring that initiatives in Outreach, Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Talent Development, Benefits, and Early Career Programs effectively support Hoffman’s goals and contribute to long-term success. + Ensure the organization’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. + Support the development of the organization’s managers and leaders to maintain a culture of accountability and empowerment. + Oversee the maintenance of personnel documents and records required by law, local governing bodies, or other departments in the organization. + Create and deliver impactful presentations to senior leadership, sharing insights on HR policies, practices, and strategic initiatives. + Oversee the development, and maintenance of a tailored Human Resources Information System (HRIS), and Learning Management System (LMS) that aligns with organizational needs and supports strategic decision-making. Supervisory Responsibilities: + Oversee the day-to-day operations of the HR Department, supporting workflows and ensuring alignment with company objectives. + Lead the recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and development of new HR team members, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment. + Provide timely, constructive performance feedback, guiding HR team members toward continuous improvement and professional development. Qualifications Position Related Skills: + Leadership and People Management: The ability to lead the HR team, manage talent, and build trust and credibility at all levels of the organization. + Strategic Thinking: Developing and implementing HR strategies aligned with organizational goals while anticipating future talent needs. + Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for clear, concise, and effective interaction with employees, leadership, and partners. + Employee Relations: Proficient in conflict resolution, fostering positive work environments, and supporting a culture of accountability and empowerment. + Data-driven Decision-making: Using HR metrics, analytics, and data to support decision-making and optimize HR practices. + Legal and Compliance Knowledge: Understanding of employment laws, regulations, and compliance requirements to ensure organizational policies, benefits, and programs are legally sound. + Composure: Ability to work well and maintain a cooperative attitude through high-pressure situations, maintaining professionalism and patience throughout. Education and Professional Experience: + High School Diploma or GED required. + Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. + A minimum of ten (10) years of Human Resource management experience is required, including at least five (5) years in a senior-level HR leadership role. + Prior professional experience in Architecture, Engineering and/or Construction related fields preferred. + PHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification is highly preferred. + Professional working experience with Korn Ferry Competency Framework and Leadership Architect preferred. + Professional working experience with Oracle HCM, LinkedIn Learning, and other talent development and learning management systems preferred. Physical and Mental Requirements + Ability to travel up to 10% of the time, including day trips and an occasional overnight stay while visiting out-of-state project sites. + Must be able to remain in a stationary position in an office environment more than 50% of the time, with the occasional requirement to move about the construction site. + Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, or printer. + Visual: The worker is required to have the ability to perform duties such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; reading printed and digital documents. + Hearing and Speech: Constantly required to communicate with customers and coworkers in an office setting, and on the phone/digital meetings. + Work Environment: The majority of work is performed in an office setting, with minimal time spent outdoors, in all types of weather conditions and exposure.
