Job Summary

Morton Salt is seeking an energetic and dedicated Human Resources Generalist to join our dynamic team.  As a Human Resources Generalist, the jobholder will oversee the recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, employee file management, and HRIS entry.  The jobholder will work closely with management and employees to ensure that all HR-related needs are met, and that the company’s goals and objectives are achieved.  This role is for a professional who is well-organized and flexible with excellent communication skills.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for the day-to-day HR operations, including but not limited to internal and external job postings, employee onboarding, offboarding, record keeping, benefits administration, and employee relations. Support initiatives to enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment. Ensures compliance with labor laws, regulations, and company policies, and actively contribute to the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures. Understands HR metrics and reporting to support data-driven decision-making. Serves as the 1st point of contact for HR related support to include employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, investigations, and disciplinary actions. Understands and applies relevant employment standards, requirements and legislation for consistency, compliance and efficiency within the organization. Assists and supports all HR activities/other duties as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Bachelor’s degree in an HR related field. Minimum 3 years progressive HR experience required, including recruiting. Previous experience in manufacturing or industrial setting preferred. Previous experience with Collective Bargaining Agreements and unionized workforce is required. Knowledge and understanding of HR best practices and labor laws. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to build relationships with employees, management, and external stakeholders. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficient in HRIS systems and other HR-related software applications. Ability to travel 50% of time as required. Position will be based in Lyons, KS or Overland Park, KS.
