Human Resources Coordinator (Surrey, Campbell River or Nanaimo, BC)   Discovery Community College (DCC) has an opening for an onsite/in-person Human Resources (HR) Coordinator based from one of our main locations (Surrey, Campbell River or Nanaimo, BC). The HR Coordinator at DCC plays an essential role in managing general HR functions, supporting the recruitment, onboarding, training, and employee relations processes. This role ensures that DCC maintains a high level of employee engagement, compliance with BC labor laws, and a positive work environment that aligns with the company’s core values of excellence in education. Salary range:  $52,000 to $60,000 per annum depending on experience. Required Qualifications and Abilities: + Diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is a requirement. + 2 to 5 years of previous HR experience essential. + Strong understanding of HR best practices, BC labor laws, and compliance. + Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. + A self motivated professional with a high level of initiative, and the proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment. + Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion. + Strong problem-solving skills and high level of accuracy. + High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) essential. Key Responsibilities: 1. Recruitment and Onboarding: + Support recruitment efforts by creating job postings, screening resumes, and coordinating interviews with department managers. + Oversee the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring all documentation is completed and employees are properly introduced to their team leads and other members of staff. + Act as a point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns, maintaining a positive and productive work environment. 2. Training and Development: + Coordinate employee training programs to ensure staff are well-equipped to perform their roles effectively. + Facilitate regular orientation sessions for new employees, including policies, and safety standards. + Track employee training records and certifications to ensure compliance and continued development. 3. Payroll Administration Backup: + Utilize Ceridian/Dayforce to help process payroll accurately and on time for all employees, ensuring adherence to company policies and labor laws. + Assist employees with payroll inquiries and resolve any issues. 4. Staff Engagement and Culture Building: + Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture by addressing employee concerns, providing conflict resolution, and maintaining effective communication across departments. + Organize employee engagement activities (High Fives), recognition programs, and team-building events to promote a cohesive team atmosphere. + Work closely with management to ensure staff retention strategies are implemented effectively. 5. Compliance and Record Keeping: + Maintain accurate and confidential HR records, ensuring compliance with provincial labor laws and company policies. + Monitor labor law changes and ensure the company is compliant with the applicable employment standards. + Prepare HR reports and audits as required by management or regulatory authorities. 6. Health and Safety: + Support the implementation of workplace safety programs and ensure all employees are trained on company-specific safety protocols. + Track employee health and safety incidents and assist with the completion of incident reports and follow-up actions. 7. General HR Support: + Support performance management processes by coordinating performance reviews and tracking employee feedback. + Assist with the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
