Human Resources Manager

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced HR Manager to support our Ypsilanti, MI location, with approximately 90 employees. This role is primarily on-site and responsible for leading all aspects of human resources, including employee relations, onboarding, benefits administration, performance management, immigration, compliance, and fostering a positive workplace culture.

The ideal candidate will act as a strategic partner to the onsite leadership, ensuring HR practices align with business goals while providing support to employees at all levels. A strong focus on employee engagement, effective communication, and problem-solving is essential to succeed in this role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary Responsibilities:

·         Serve as the primary HR contact for the Ypsilanti location, providing guidance on HR process, programs and policies applying a broad knowledge of performance management, goal setting, employment, immigration, relocation, compensation, development, benefits, terminations, staffing, new hire orientation, employee satisfaction and retention.

·         Address employee relations issues and implement strategies to maintain a productive and positive workplace.

·         Assist with administration of employee benefits, payroll support, and compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.

·         Support training and development initiatives to enhance employee skills and career growth.

·         Monitor and ensure compliance with safety regulations and workplace policies.

·         Partner with Talent Manager for recruitment and onboarding processes to attract and retain top talent.

·         Connect managers and employees with subject matter experts from HR team and other parts of the business as appropriate.

Employee Relations

·         Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on employee relations issues, including performance management, discipline, and workplace concerns.

·         Conduct investigations into employee complaints, assess severity, document findings, and recommend appropriate actions to resolve issues effectively.

·         Analyze turnover trends and employee feedback to identify challenges, enhance the employee experience, and foster a positive, productive work environment.

 

HR Data Management

·       Track participation in system for goalsetting and performance reviews; provide reports as needed to HR partners

·       Partner with HR Operations providing data changes with required approvals for processing.

 

Compensation & Benefits

·         Advise managers on compensation decisions by providing analysis on internal and market comp data.

·         Assist with administration of employee benefits and serve as the point of contact for employee questions and concerns.

·         Partner with Compensation and Benefits specialists as needed.

Legal

·         Advise managers on labor law compliance, addressing legal concerns, recommending actions, and mitigating potential liabilities.

·         Monitor changes in labor laws, assess their impact on the business, and communicate necessary updates to managers and employees while managing legal aspects of reorganizations or workforce reductions as needed.

Management Coaching & Organizational Development

·         Coach managers on effective leadership practices, including performance management, career development, team building, and providing constructive feedback.

·         Train managers on HR-related topics such as labor law, goal setting, performance reviews, and aligning team goals with organizational objectives.

·         Collaborate with managers to identify learning and development opportunities, implement career development plans, and facilitate leadership forums or workshops.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

·         5+ years of HR management or generalist experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

·         Strong knowledge of HR best practices, labor laws, and compliance requirements.

·         Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

·         Ability to work independently and build effective relationships with employees and leadership teams.
