Cabot is seeking an experienced professional to manage all Human Resources activities at our manufacturing sites in Tuscola, IL, Midland, MI and in Carrollton, KY.  This position that will be responsible for providing HR services in a timely and cost-effective manner that attract and retain high quality employees and maximize their contribution to the profitable operation of the business.   As part of the regional HR team, the HR Manager also supports the global and regional initiatives of the HR function of Cabot Corporation. As a member of the site leadership team, the HR Manager develops and implements strategies, goals, and plans in collaboration with the site leadership team.

This is an on-site role that can be based at any Cabot manufacturing site in: Tuscola, IL, Midland, MI, or Carrollton, KY, and will require inter-site travel.

How You Will Make an Impact Manage all HR activities including staffing, employee relations, performance management, compensation, benefits and training.  Ensure site compliance with all fair employment practices.Implement local compensation systems and processes that attract, retain, and motivate employees.  Collaborates with Corporate Compensation to ensure local compensation needs are met.  Administers global compensation programs and processes for the site.Provide leadership and coaching for the management processes that support the integrated elements of Talent Management (Organizational Design & Development, Staffing, PBM( Performance Based Management), Employee Development and Total Rewards).Implement and continuously improve the effectiveness of the PBM system to enhance employee performance and development.Promote Cabot culture and create an environment of open communication between management and employees.  Ensure that policies and processes are fairly and uniformly applied. Work with employees and managers to prevent and resolve problems that arise out of, or affect the work environment.Provide leadership and advice on all applicable laws and ensure processes are in place for ongoing compliance.Lead training across the site to enhance the skill levels of the workforce, thereby contributing to the organization’s overall effectivenessAssure succession planning process and organizational planning are implemented to assure employee development and full utilization of resources at both the local and regional levels. What You Will Bring to Cabot 10+ years of Human Resources experience including all facets of the HR function: recruiting, compensation, benefits and employee and labor relations.Post secondary degree (Bachelor’s/University) required; graduate degree preferred.Experience in manufacturing environment(s).5+ years in a management/leadership position.Ability to accommodate inter-site travel among Tuscola, IL, Midland, MI and in Carrollton, KY, is required.In-depth knowledge of strategic HR processes/methodologies, broad experience across HR sub-functions; change management and competitive practices, management coaching techniques, problem solving/conflict resolution, employment and labor laws.Proven leadership with the ability to objectively coach through complex, difficult and emotional issues; ability to manage conflict to resolution with demonstrated results.Ability to build and maintain positive business relationships internal and external to the HR function.Must be: hands-on, analytical, results-oriented, comfortable with ambiguity, highly organized, customer service oriented, organizationally savvy, able to work independently with very little supervision, able to handle confidential information with the highest degree of professionalism, and a team player who can function effectively in a highly matrixed environment at all levels of the organization.Coaching: The desire and ability to provide guidance, and feedback, with the intent to help individuals and teams perform at their bestCommunication & Presentation Skills: The ability to effectively engage with the organization in a manner that portrays confidence and is timely, relevant, and appropriate for the environmentCustomer Oriented: The desire and ability to provide high quality of service to all customers in a responsive and prompt mannerEmployee Development: Guiding managers and employees in the learning and development processEmployee & Labor Relations: The ability to work with employees and managers to prevent and resolve problems that arise out of, or affect the work environmentOrganizational Engagement & Influence: The ability to work in close alignment with people from other functions and to influence and engage with others to address issues, resolve conflicts and create change when neededRelationship Skills: The ability to establish and sustain relationships with colleagues and employees at all levels in the companySituational Analysis & Problem Solving: Recognizes the uniqueness of different situations and approaches problem resolution through a logical and complete review of all relevant factorsStaffing & Employee Orientation: Leads a competency focused recruitment process to fill open positions, and ensures that new employees are appropriately oriented for success in the jobSystems Management: The ongoing effort to ensure that the global HR system is updated with accurate information, and that the system is used effectively for business planning and business decisions
