POSITION SUMMARY:
Hunt Apparel Designer collaborates with other outdoor-minded product development teammates, and merchants to develop on-trend and functional outdoor pursuit gear for avid sportsmen and women across many regional and species-specific interests. Responsibilities include defining and identifying hunting and conservation trends/competitive research, developing concept designs, detail design, color story, graphics, and product specifications to a finished stylized design in a complete tech pack. This position is based at our Headquarters (Base Camp) location in Springfield, Missouri.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Conduct market research to identify new trends, fabrics and techniques, and seeking design inspiration centralized around the passion of outdoor pursuits. Identify opportunities for new products Analyze how market trends tie in with brands and consumer preferences; ensuring products are in agreement with the business strategy Collaborate with team to select seasonal themes, make edits to line, create new concepts, identify/select fabrics and trimsPresent story, mood, color boards, and inspirational samples to teamCreate production sketches for development packages and develop tech packs as required. Collaborate with technical designer/fit tech and product specialist to ensure tech pack are accurate.Performs market research to fully understand textile trends and applications for assigned product category, competing brand benchmarks, materials specifications, and required functional performance for assigned material/project development.Collaborates with Development Partners to identify and select materials for designs.ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNEDEXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design, or relevant field
Experience: 5 + years’ apparel design experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:
An understanding of the passion among sportsmen and sportswomen of North AmericaPersonal experience in the outdoors in pursuit of gameAbility to creatively use color, shape, texture, and construction techniquesAbility to hand sketch designs, create story boards, and develop detailed tech packsExcellent design and conceptual skillsProficient use with software programs: Adobe Illustrator, MS Excel, PLM (Centric 8), NedGraphicsAdaptability to quickly learn other design tools for development processes and team productivityOutstanding communication skills, both written and verbalTime-management skillsTRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
5-10% Domestic
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Regular computer work, walking, standing, lifting up to 50lbs, etc.
