Reporting to the Director, Power and Renewable Operations the Electrical Technician is primarily responsible for managing and directing work priorities and executing the required preventative/predictive maintenance and overall responsibility for the facility control. Maintains a good working knowledge of all electrical components and control systems and understands the principle of operation and control of all production and process facilities to provide technical assistance, remedial repair and the necessary record keeping.
Additional responsibilities regarding Operational excellence which include the development and execution of a SSOP’s, JHA’s, Safe Work agreements and following all Health, Safety and Environmental policies and objectives. Completion of all core training, EnPower Management System manuals and Standards or Code specific training
This position works collaboratively with Operations, Operational Support, Administration, Engineering, Technical Services, Commercial Operations, HSE, Compliance and Accounting.
All duties and responsibilities will be performed in accordance with established health, safety and environmental principles, corporate policies, practices and procedures and applicable government legislation.
Is available for standby duty as designated, as well as being reasonably available for call out after normal working hours, when necessary.
Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
Perform troubleshooting and maintenance, including development and execution of switching and isolation of electrical devices. Support in development of site-specific procedures for Facility assets. Ensure all equipment records are kept current (MAXIMO), part inventories and replacements are maintained. Work with engineering and operations personnel on O&M and capital projects. Support and assist with MOC process. Understand and follow emergency response plans, and participate in any training requirements. Conduct pre job safety meetings and issuing of Safe Work Agreements. Work closely with the Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) group to ensure compliance with government and company regulations. Ensures compliance with the AESO rules, Canadian Electrical Code, Alberta Provincial Regulations, Code for Electrical Generation Facilities, Local Electrical Code requirements, and standard industry practice. Maintains good company relations with landowners, service companies, and government agencies.Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of current on-site electrical equipment and associated systems. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
