About the Role
As part of the BHP Iron Ore Infrastructure and Services function, the High Voltage (HV) & Power Operations team is responsible for the operation of our HV transmission and distribution network across the Pilbara. Our shared team purpose is to provide safe and reliable energy to our customers.
The successful candidate for this role will be provided the opportunity to be part of our dynamic team of HV & Power Network Operations engineers. These engineers are dedicated to delivering exceptional day to day operational technical engineering support, identifying and implementing improvement initiatives on the HV and power network, and managing small projects. This role will also be critical in the integration of renewable energy sources into the network over the next few years as WA Iron Ore (WAIO) works towards its decarbonisation goals.
Reporting to the Lead Network Operations, you will be responsible for but not limited to:
Providing technical assistance with regards to responding to faults and outages on the high voltage network. Analysing faults, conducting investigations into major network failures, identifying areas of concern or opportunities for improvement and driving network improvements. Providing lateral HV engineering support through technical queries to various internal project groups and stakeholders. Supporting the successful implementation of projects on the HV network by providing operational engineering support. Reviewing HV submissions for legal and regulatory compliance. Ensuring all HV transmission and distribution systems are managed and operated in accordance with BHP procedures, industry best practice and relevant regulatory requirements. Contributing to long term strategies regarding the growth of the network under the HV Network Management Standard. Contributing to the field leadership program to continuously improving safety performance of our team and asset.
About You
We are looking for individuals who possess the following characteristics:
Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering Experience in an Electrical Utility, Mining or related industry Strong analytical skills and ability to deal with ambiguity, problem solve and react to unplanned situations. Ability to engage with frontline employees and management through good verbal, written and presentation communication skills. Have a commitment to safety and genuine care for their team Passionate about coaching and providing guidance to others Network load flow analysis experience utilising software such as PowerFactory is highly desirable
Location
This role will be offered as a FIFO based role from Perth on a 4D/3X or 5D/2X 4D/3X roster.
