In this position...
Responsibilities include vehicle instrumentation planning, installation, and commissioning, as well as completing teardowns and assessments of warranty-return HV batteries. Daily work will be 70% HV battery teardowns, and 30% vehicle instrumentation and/or returned warranty part installation for vehicle-level testing.
What you'll do...
Vehicle instrumentation planning, installation, and commissioning. Applicant should have good working knowledge of thermistors, breakout boxes, current & voltage probes, and interfacing equipment (oscilloscopes etc)
Teardown warranty return HV batteries and assess failed components
Installation of warranty return components such as chargers, DC/DCs, etc into test vehicles for failure mode replication, and mileage accumulation on said vehicles as necessary
Fabricate customer breakout boxes and instrumentation as needed
Carry out test plans dictated by engineering teams as needed
You'll have...
Associates degree in a technical discipline or higher required.
3+ years of automotive technical experience.
1+ years direct work experience with electrified vehicles
Understanding of EV/Hybrid HV systems & functions, including HV battery
High voltage safety experience
Experience fabricating & installing vehicle instrumentation (thermocouples, current clamps, etc)
Familiarity with multimeters, oscilloscopes, current/voltage probes, and instrumentation in general
Hands-on experience with automative troubleshooting & repairs
Proactive, self-motivated, and attention to detail
Team player
Working knowledge of electrical engineering basics (voltage/current/resistance)
Minimal travel expected, primarily SE Michigan Ford facilities
Even better, you may have...
Strong leadership skills, able to effectively interact with multiple internal and external stakeholders
Preferably, hands-on experience with vehicle diagnostic data gathering & troubleshooting (CAN data, DIDs, etc)
