Job Description:
Reporting to the Cleanroom Technical Services Manager, the HVAC Engineering Technician will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of cleanroom facilities including all HVAC equipment. Cleanrooms are specialized environments used in industries such as pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, electronics manufacturing, and healthcare, where strict control of airborne particles, air pressure, temperature, humidity, and other environmental factors is critical.
Essential job duties:
Installing, maintaining, and repairing cleanrooms, cleanroom components and cleanroom support systems (HVAC, controls, biosafety cabinets, laminar flow hoods, HEPA filters, exhaust fans, etc.) Configuring hardware and software components after installation Testing and troubleshooting equipment to determine repair feasibility Performing routine maintenance on HVAC systems, plumbing systems, and controls’ systems Documenting installation and repairs including all maintenance records Troubleshoot, repair and/or escalate issues using problem-solving methods including root cause analysis Identify and implement corrective action for manufacturing related issues using standard methodology Maintain all tools and equipment used during service requests Respond to service requests by diagnosing equipment problems, processing issues and completing the necessary repairs and documentation Ensure escalation process is followed and completed in a timely manner for service and downtime issues Teach customers proper use of cleanroom systems and equipment Support management with stocking of replacement parts and equipment Use computers, software, and electronic tools to operate, monitor and troubleshoot cleanrooms Apply broad knowledge of general technical concepts and practices to meet the needs of the business and cleanroom team Weekend and evening travel may be required; hourly pay is provided for travel hours when necessaryRequirements:
· 4+ years work experience in hands-on technical or construction roles
· 2+ years prior HVAC experience working with cooling units, refrigeration, airflow, dampers, and mechanical drives
HVAC certification such as EPA a plus Prior experience with variable frequency drives is required Ability to manipulate dampers and manage airflow to maintain proper usage of equipment Experience programming and troubleshooting PLC Excellent attendance, attention to detail, and organizational skills Applies solid knowledge of business concepts, procedures and practices, and a complete understanding fundamental in a functional area, and working knowledge of other related disciplines. Ability to interact seamlessly with all clinical professionals Ability to perform some manual labor tasks such as equipment installation, and cleanroom construction tasks using various tooling Strong communicator with collaborative team skills Valid Driver’s License Required Willing and able to submit to a criminal background check Ability to kneel, bend, crawl, lift 40 lbs, and climb ladders following all safety procedures H.S. diploma or equivalent required; Trade education preferred
