Full - Time - 6:00 am – 4:30 pm – (weekends as needed)Location: Silver Spring, MDMaintenance DepartmentThe HVAC Journeyman Technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of all hospital refrigeration equipment (ice machines, refrigeration, central air condition system, hot water systems).This position reports to Plant Operations Manager and/or Sr. Engineer

Responsibilities:

Responsible for proper use, recovery, and disposal of C.F.C. based refrigerants.Maintenance and installation of direct digital controls, and pneumatic controls for management and control of hospital environmental systems.Responsible for refrigeration monitoring and the associated repairs. Makes recommendations for equipment needs and oversees its installation.  Follows up on ordering and communicates repairs on all systemsDaily monitors all critical systems for reliability and makes recommendation on its operations.  Make routine shift tours of facility's mechanical rooms. Will perform corrective and preventative maintenance as required for optimal system efficiency.  Install, test, and repair equipment according to standard practice of the trade set forth by state and local government safety regulations. Collaborate with team members to ensure exceptional service and customer satisfaction. May also work with and/or supervise HVAC vendors.

What you will need:

Required:

A high school diploma or equivalent.  Technical school certification with courses in mathematics, science, blueprint reading, mechanical drawing, refrigeration, air conditioning, and thermodynamics.CFC Refrigerant Recovery Certification.Minimum four (5) years experience working in refrigeration, air conditioning, HVAC equipment and controls.Previous experience as an HVAC Installer or similar roleKnowledge of equipment repair and maintenance techniquesFamiliarity with HVAC design principles and air conditioning systemsStrong mechanical aptitude for field service workSkills in plumbing and refrigeration systems Experience in mechanical work as a mechanicRequires judgment and independent action in determining operating conditions of equipment and in making repairs, and meeting emergency situations all within limits of standard practice. Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend English.Ability to understand and manipulate system computersCapable of reading, understanding, and interpreting blueprints.Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Preferred:

Preferer Journeyman HVAC license or equivalent to 5 years of HVAV experience in the trade.

Pay Range: $32.12 - $48.18

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
